Sig P226 long versus short extractor

Would you rather have a pre-2011 P226 with the short extractor or a current manufacture P226 with the long extractor?

Does the short extractor P226 command a price premium now?

I would rather have the short extractor. It is a proven design and to me it looks better.

The long extractor may end up being just as or more durable as the short extractor but for now my preference is short. Considering the amount of new SIGs that are sold, tens of thousands a month I bet, reports of any extractor problems are pretty rare.

No difference in value just because of extractor.

Not sure where you got the pre-2011 criteria. I would not hesitate to buy a brand new MK25 P226 if I wanted a new P226.

Personally I'd rather have a German P226 with welded slide and internal extractor. And I do.

The pre-2011 thing is from my own experience noticing when the long extractors starting appearing in P226's.

The MK25 is a separate animal as it appears to still retain the short extractor. The standard P226R's are all long extractor currently AFAIK.

If you want a new, pre-2011 designed P226, it's the MK25.
