i'm strongly looking at a sig 239 in a .40 cal for cc

what has everyones reliability and experiences etc with the above sigs and carrying them in a waste band etc

I own or have owned them all. They are all very reliable. I'd go with the P239 for CCW. It's not a feather weight, but it is very accurate, and very reliable.

I've recently purchased just about every popular defense ammo you can buy in .40 S&W and ran them all through my P239, P226, and even my XD. They all work just fine.

You won't be sorry going with the P239. I'd trust my life with it.

I have a 239 .40 as my CC piece.....It's a bit heavy, and perhaps a bit large for IWB carry. Depends on your build, I guess.

+1 on Scorpiusdues comments re: the accuracy and reliability of the 239, though. It is a well-engineered firearm.

I carry a 239 99% of the time (PM9 the rest of the time) and it has been 100%...

If you have experience carrying full sized CCWs then you may not mind carrying the 226 or 229. I really like my 226, but it is an IDPA gun and I wouldn't want to carry it IWB. I also really like the 229, but it is very thick at the top of the grip and it prints on me. (I carry 3:00 IWB)

I have been looking really hard at the P220 Carry... It looks to be a close call, when compared to the 239

All in all... the 239 is the only one that was designed specifically as a CCW piece.

I own all three and have carried them concealed but the P220 and P226 are much more comfortable OWB. P239 is the only one I carry regularly IWB. Your mileage may vary.

Hello

I have all three as well. All are great guns. The 239 and 220 carry the best with the definite edge going to the 239. It is smaller, especially in the grip, which is the part that prints.
Having said that. There are much easier guns to carry IMO. Kahrs, micro 1911's, HK P7's. P7 is the easiest for me, followed by my Kimber Ultra Carry. My Kahrs are used when minimal clothing or pocket carry is needed.

IMO there is no easy formula for carrying concealed. Either find one gun you love and dress around that, or find many guns you trust and use them when they fit your lifestyle.

The most important but overlooked aspect of CCW is a great belt and holster dependent on your style of carry.

I too have all three, plus the P229, which I normally carry. If you put them all down together, they really are not all that much different size wise. The P239/P220 are eight round guns, the P226/P229 are twelve rounders. All carry pretty much the same. (I carry IWB, so thats how I compare them) The one SIG I have that is noticeably different than the rest size wise, is the P230. Its really not much different overall, just a good bit thinner.

Here are the P239 and P229 together....

This shows how some of the other SIG's comapre...

I'd suggest looking at all of them and pick the one that feels the best to you. If possible, shoot the ones that do and then pic. They all "feel" some what different in your hand, but all seem to shoot the same for me.

I wouldnt worry to much about which one is smaller for carry. Size really has little to with anything. If you have the right belt and holster, dress right, and have the proper attitude, you can carry and conceal just about anything.

If I didn't have a P7M8, the P239 DAK would be my choice. As it is, I bought the P7 for me, and a pair of P239s for my nieces. (Yes, as a matter of fact, I am the best uncle ever.)

Hard to argue with that!

I've carried the P220, P226, P229, and P239 concealed. I didn't consider any of them compact enough for IWB except the 239. My current daily carry is the P220. I carry it OWB in a high-ride. I wear large untucked shirts. I've only been made once. (By a cow-orker. Whom I also believe happened to have some hardware on his person.)

Pick Sig P239

I have a couple of Sigs (P229, P226) and like them very much. But I think they are too large for comfortable carry by my standards. I use them for range and home defense. Of the Sigs you mentioned, I think the P239 in .40 would be the best choice. I have handled this gun and it is noticeably thinner than my two Sigs, with a shorter grip that could be concealed pretty well.

If you really want a carry gun that is quite concealable, there are smaller options than the Sig P239, as you probably know. Some of my favorites in this category are 3 inch 1911s with thin grip panels, steel Kahrs like the K9/K40/MK9/MK40, or the various snubby revolvers. Here are three that I use at various times:

Most people have excellent luck with SIG's.
My CPO P-226 is at SIG for the second time having the same problem worked on again.
I called the other day to see what the progress was and was told that eventhough it has been there for 2 weeks now no one had worked on it yet.
As you can imagine, I'm not too impressed with them right now.
What I will say is if you get one, hope it works right the first time.

It may LOOK like there isn't much difference in size between the 229 and the 239 but carrying them ...

... the difference is significant.
