I contacted Sig Sauer customer service and asked if the 716 chamber was a SAAMI spec 308 win. Her answer was it was stamped 7.62 x 51 and ok to shoot 308 win, which is what the manual says. I asked for the specs and she said they didn't have them which I though was odd. After further discussion she did later tell me the chamber specs weren't published.
My questions:
Anyone know where Sig 716 specs can be found?
What/who sets standards for chamber sizes other than SAAMI?
Why would Sig not publish information like this?
BTW, I'm not trying to bash Sig customer service either. It just seemed like they didn't have time for my questions, I'm sure they were busy. I only want to know for my own knowledge after reading hours of different threads on the differences between the two calibers.
