Ive been reading different 243 ballistic charts and a couple of them have the 243 zeroed at 200 yrds. What range do you guys sight your 243 in at and Ive noticed that the round flys pretty flat how flat does the round actually fly ?

Same for me, 3/4"-1" high at 100 will zero you at about 200-220 with just about any bullet I have tried.
How flat does it fly, my 55 gr loads at about 3800fps are 3/4" high at 100 and about 5" low at 300.

243 sight in

Asquires, i am pretty much with the other guys. if you sight in at 1 inch high at 100 yards you will be about 2 inches low at 200. so on a deer that is not very much at all. if you post your loads and barrel length on here i will do some quick load and quick target magic and post them.

Im shooting the remmy core lok 243 100gr out of a remmington 700 spsv 26" bull barrel

Most of my .243 pleasure has been with the 85-grain Sierra HPBT. I've always sighted in for about two inches high at 100, which as near as nevermind is about dead on at 200 and five or six inches low at 300. (19" barrel, so I'm a tad slower than a full-length barrel.)

if you have access to a 200 yd range, then zero at 200. if not, then shoot 2 inches high at 100, I am assuming you have a scoped rifle here. this will give you a good deer shot, with no holdover, all the way to 300 yds.
Even at 400 yds, you only need about a 12 inch holdover.

Oh yeah, you should really find out which ammo it likes best, for accuracy, or if you are going to use multiple weights, or mfgrs, zero them as well. Since they will most likely fly to diff places, all over the place.

243 sighting in.

given remingtons factory velocity of 2960fps through a 24 inch barrell with a 26 inch barrel this increases to 3023fps for the extra 2 inches.

maximum point blank zero is shown at 188 meters at 100 yards it is 1 inch high and at 200 yards it is 1.5 inches low. so to be honest zeroing an inch high at 100 is the way to go.

this is pretty flat shooting but to be fair most centrfire hv rounds are pretty similar.... we are only takling ab inch or 2 difference at this range... a .308 win with 180's often cited as very loopy has a maximum point blank zero at 166 m and at 100 yards needs to be 2 inch high and at 200 yards has dropped 2 inches. (below line of sight)

Ive been told that the remmy 700 likes the remmy coreloc, I havent shot anything else yet but Im gonna.

Jack O'Connor, my boyhood author, always sighted his big game rifles 3" high at 100 yds. Varmint rifles 1.5" at 100 yds., this seems in line with Chuck's chart. If in my hunting area the shots were short I'd be down towards the
1.5" mark, long shots 3".
