I recently sighted in my gun, but I think I have found a problem in what I did. When I sighted it in its set at 100 yards zero but I believe I used the wrong setting on the carry handle. I noticed today that I had the carry handles yardage set to the 6/3 setting. What does that mean? When I look at the rear sight I can see no daylight under the sight with it set at 6/3, then one click to the right it slightly raises and 2 clicks tot he right raises a little more. Well that all makes sense till you get to the 2nd click and then there is a Z. 6 clicks from the 6/3 mark is the number 4. So I am assuming that I set the Zero at the incorrect setting in which it needs to be set at Z then the 4 would be 400 yards but I don't understand what 6/3 means. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I will try to answer this, although I am sure there are forum members better qualified than myself.
First your going to want to screw the rear peep down as far is it will go, then advance it back up to the Z. At 25 meters you make your changes in elevation with the front sight post. Also make adjustments for windage. Now turn it down to 3/6(should be one or two clicks counter-clockwise, depending on if you have a 1/4 or 1/2 MOA sight). Now the rifle will shoot out to 300 meters. Advance it up to 4(turning clockwise) for 400 meters, 5 for 500 meters and a complete revolution(360 degrees total adjustment) for 600 meters.
I hope this is right and I hope it helps. For other references, refer to www.ar15.com(they have sight in instructions on the home page), or buy a pack of Bushmaster sight-in targets and each one has the instructions.

So in other words I DID do it wrong. I planned on tryin to go yote hunting tomorrow....How far can I expect to be off without shooting it if I set the carry handle to Z with a target at 100 yards. I would guess to be around 2-4" high?

What Stinky is reffering to is the highly regarded Santose or "Improved Battlesight Zero" method of sighting in the AR15. There are other methods availabe (25 meters, 300 meters etc) but, i like this one. Here are the full instructions on how to do it. You have to do some unusual stuff with your sights to pull it off.

Be sure to browse around on that site a little too its got all sorts of good info on it.

Sounds like you have the Removable A3 carry handle with the 6/3 setting. The A2 fixed carry handles have the 8/3 setting.

Anyway...good information above on zeroing.

Don't move anything if you are going hunting then fix it afterwards. You should be fine too 200 yrds are so. Just ingnore the rear elevation settings. No you will not be able to accuratly adjust the rear site for a 500 yrd shot but how long is the farthest shot you anticipate?
