Count me in! Just got a 228 for my 21st. The 228 has been my service weapon for the last 2 years (ish) and I absolutely love the thing. Cant beat it in any catagory.

Welcome Sgt - Thanks for your service!

jwerlc - I can't help you with your grip question. Hogue doesn't list any. Might try gun shows or eBay.

I'll join.

I have owned several Sigs. Never had a malfunction with any of them. My current favorite is a 229 SAS.

Now looking for a 239 SAS.

Thinking about my Sig and the prospect of buying more makes me all warm and fuzzy. I am really hot on the single action 220 now.

Differences with the 225 compared with the 228??

Lots of Sig knowledge in this thread, what is the 225?..it doesn't appear on Sigs web page.

What are the 225 differences from the 228?

Thanks,

salty.

Count me in, I'm definately an addict!

Took the NRA safety course, and immediately fell in love with a 226 Navy the guy let me shoot. In fact, I get to pick up my own brand new P226R Navy tomorrow! (Gift from my fiance).

I've been eyeing a lightly used P220 at a local hidden away kind of shop, may just go grab that shortly too. Then I'd love to get a trailside, P239 SAS (for me and cause the 226 is a bit large for my fiance), and that local shop also has a P6 in nice condition. Yep, I'm an addict. :neener:

I'm in with my 225 (P6) and my 228 (picking up tomorrow). Sigs are my new best friends.

German Police P6 and Navy 226 no-rail here.

Thanks,

Here's an excellent review of the 225. http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/Critical Look at SIG Sauer P225.htm

Incidentally, the P6 is the German police designation of the P225. SIG still makes the 225 in Germany, but they are no longer imported into the US (the 239). From time to time batches of P6's are imported into the States, and they are available from Gander Mountain, AIM Surplus, Dan's Ammo etc.

Bad News Re After Market Grip for P245

"Now that there is a club for designated Sigaholics, maybe I can get a question answered here.
Where can I find some wood grips for the P245? Every other part of the gun can be serviced with P220 parts, but the grip comes up "short". (sorry, couldn't resist)
Thanks,
John"

I'm afraid I have some bad news for you. Wood or rubber grips don't seem to be available. As you know, the P245 is discontinued, which shocked SIGaholics when it happened. The gun wasn't selling well. It didn't catch on until SIG pulled it off the market. (Then SIGARMS introduced the P220 Carry this year.) The P245 wasn't available long enough for grip makers to produce rubber or wood grips for it. This subject has popped up a couple of times on the SIG Forum. I searched in vain for wood or rubber, esp. finger groove grips. Nills, Hogue, and custom grip makers just don't make them. Hogue does sell wood panels for the P245. But they may not be listed on the Hogue website. I had to email.

I have a P245 w/the Ilaflon finish and a P245 tu-tone I would like to dress up somewhat. On the practical side, I wanted to fit the Hogue rubber finger groove grips on them. I have equipped a number of my auto loaders and revolvers with the Hogue rubber grips to improve grip and reduce felt recoil.

The best you are going to do is a Hogue Handall grip over your factory grip. It is sort of like buying a one-size-fits-most bra for your gun, but it seems to work well for the P245. A Handall seems to fit just right without a struggle to slip it on or worry it will slip while firing the gun. I just inched it on according to the instructions.

I really like the P245. One I have is equipped with the XS speed sight, the Big AO. It is sort of like dotting the letter i and is quick on multiple targets at short range, which is the purpose of this gun. The P245 is quite accurate as you know. You know you can buy P220 mags and equip them with X-Grips for spare mags and increased capacity.

Dirkster, thank you. I should have thought to check Stephen's web site. My bad.

Sig rookie on board.

Welcome to all the new club members!

Ops Officer
Thanks for the info on the P245 grips

Sounds like you got a winner. Congrats :D

P239 in .357 Sig

How do you like the Hogue finger grooves on your 239? I think they make the gun feel completely better than the stock grips. What kind of holster is that?
I'm looking for a good IWB holster.

P239 SAS with .357sig barrel

I wish that 239 SAS was made in 357SIG, it looks like a nice package.
I would think that you could get a P239 SAS and drop the .357sig barrel into it. It should work since its the same gun - only melted down. Has anyone tried this yet to see if it will work?

I haven't tried it myself, but over on SigForum they talk about the ability to do that. Since the SAS is really just a 239 with some added stuff, the standard .357 barrell will drop in. But it'll only drop into the .40, the 9mm can only be a 9mm.

Does anyone know if the "melted" slide on the P239 SAS is less wide than the regular P239?

I'd like a SAS in 357 SIG to go along with my P239 in 9mm, but my holster is for 9mm... If anyone can measure with a micrometer the slide width of a P239 SAS I'd be much appreciative.

From time to time batches of P6's are imported into the States, and they are available from Gander Mountain, AIM Surplus, Dan's Ammo etc.
I saw one the other day at Gander Mtn. for $500. I got all excited until I picked it up... Darn if it wasn't rattly like a poorly fit 1911. It literally rattled in my hands.

I should have bought the non-railed P226 Navy I saw a few years back. I *really* love the non rail version. I can't find one NIB now, though, so I'm considering the new railed version. 2 questions for ya:
1. Does it come with 3 high cap mags, or 2? I have been told different things from different shops.
2. Does it have night sights? I have been told same. It's not on SIG's website yet, so I haven't been able to verify Y/N.
3. Is the barrel hard chromed and nitron'd like the new P220 Combat? I was told this by one gunshop, but I don't recall the first version having this feature.

I've seen a few NSW Navy's NIB around, but they usually want a pretty high price as it's the "commemorative" edition.

There were 3 Navy models, the original limited run of NSW serialized ones, a batch of non-NSW, non-railed that were apparently an overproduction run that got released to consumers, and now the current railed non-NSW Navy models. Apparently Sig still makes these for dealers, but they have to call and request one, it's not in the regular catalog.

The new P226R Navy's are the same as the old ones, phosphated internals, 3 phosphated hi-cap mags, and contrast sites, not night sites. Also I don't think the barrel is hard chromed.

As for the 239 SAS, the .40 slide is slightly wider than the 9mm, no idea how much though.

Both of my 226's sound like they might fall to pieces if shaken too hard but they're _all_ like that.Mine are old enough to vote and stone axe reliable, the slide rattle is sort of like a Ducati's dry clutch racket -you have to understand it to enjoy it:p

Ha, that's usually my handle on internet forums ("ducati"). Love the desmos.

I was told awhile back by a friend to avoid the super rattly SIGs. Now, a little slide rattle I'm ok with... But this one was pretty excessive, at least it *would be* on a 1911. Just don't worry about it and buy the thing? Is that what you're saying??

Thanks Chem geek. Maybe I'll grab a railed Navy after all. I seem to recall the initial run of P226 Navy's (the NSW's) being a light gray color, but the new railed one was dark black like my P239. Is my memory mistaken? I'm not buying for "investment" I shoot my guns... So I don't really care if it has NSW serial on it (although I did like the donation).

Count me in. I carry a Sig 229 in 357 Sig daily and have a nice 226 in 40. Next will get either a DAK 229 or a 9mm 226. My son has the 2340 Sig in 40.
