I've got a Sistema 1927 that I've had for about a year now. I like the gun for the most part, but it's got a problem feeding rounds when the slide is racked. The bullet tip does not come out of the clip fully. This in turn hangs the slide up. The gun has no problems feeding a round when the gun is fired. Once I get a round in the chamber, it's a hoot to shoot. Anyone had similar problems or know what I need to do to correct this problem?

Thanks

Mike

I think this could be a job for ...... <turn on PA> .... ''1911 TUNER''!! </turn off PA>

I have this same gun but have not thus far had this prob ... tho it sounds very mag oriented. I wonder if the mag when ''home'' is far enough in .. and bullet getting on to the feed ramp properly. I have several after market mags Mec Gar I think) and they all seem fine, as well as std mag.

Sorry no help but will watch thread with interest.

where'd you guys get yours from?? i went looking through my old set of links to em (the JDL site etc) and can't find hide ner hair of em, and i would REALLY like to know where to start. esp now that i maybe can afford one.

I got mine from a good friend who had a small gun shop here in town. I think he still had a couple in the shop when he passed away last fall. His wife is still running the shop, but is not buying anything new, just selling off inventory.

Hmmm:scrutiny:

Aha! I think ya mean the top round nose-dives into the feed ramp.

That's almost always a magazine issue. Assuming that the feed lips are
straight and the mag tube is otherwise healthy, the first suspect is the
angle of the follower. The next thing in line is the spring itself. Tired
magazine springs can fail to keep tension on the front of the round.

There's always a possibility that the magazine is simply wrong for the gun,
and will work fine in other guns. Rare, but it happens.

I've got over a hundred magazines. Out of the whole kit and kaboodle, there's one Colt magazine that does that trick in my Norinco and in none
of my others...and I've got a BUNCH of 1911s...All my other magazines
work fine in the Norinco...It's just the one, and nobody seems to know
why except the gun.

If you can't find somebody who has a good magazine for ya to try, PM me and I'll send you my loaner. It's due back today. Meanwhile, try
loading the magazine one round short and see if it doesn't do better.

Just to eliminate one other slight possibility...Field-strip the gun and
lay the barrel into the frame. Put the slidestop pin back through the frame and barrel link. Push the barrel down and back as far as it will go, and look at the junction of the feed ramp and the barrel throat. If the barrel overhangs the ramp at the back...or if it is even flush with the top of the ramp, that would be a player. There should be a gap of about a 32nd of an inch.

This PROBABLY isn't the cause...If it was, the gun would likely be hanging up at random anywhere in the magazine. Rule of thumb: Magazine problems most often show up on the top round in a full magazine, or on the last round. The middle rounds at random generally indicate that something in the gun is out of whack. Not etched in stone...just most often.

Luck!

You say it does this when racking the slide by hand? Are you riding the slide or releasing it freely.?
I have 2 magazines that do this only if I ride the slide into battery. Don't know why maybe it is a slightly weak spring or lip configuration. they're old $5.00mags

Racking

joab made a good point. The 1911 is designed to feed at full speed
by either pulling the slide to the rear and releasing it, or by tripping the
slidestop. Riding it down can bring on a stoppage.

Try letting it fly and report back.
Kudos joab!

Joab, you were right. I was riding the slide. I tried pulling the slide back and "let her fly" and Walla no more problem. Thanks joab and 1911 tuner.

On a side note, I am looking for a couple of mags for this gun. Any thoughts on what brands to stay away from or which are preferred?

Thanks

Mike

2 fo $15 "Mil- Surps" are a good start for range mags. I have about 20 and the only prob I have had from any is a failure to slide lock on the last round, but no feeding problems in 3 different guns
