"I don't know anyone who's had good luck with any type of extended SKS magazine. But's it's your money."

In about 1992, i purchased a USA Magazine 30 rounder that has never given me a bit of trouble. I also hear good things about the Tapco mags....but I have yet to read any reports or heard anything about the 75 round drums

I had USA mags for the SKS in 5,10,and 30 rounds and Tapco zytel mag in 20 round. All worked well. The USA mags I had for my Mini-14 and Mini-30 had to be "adjusted" but functioned great afterwards.

I had a detachable mag at one point.... it took a lot of fitting to work. many problems. Once it was completely customized it would work in the one gun. BUT still, every once in a while, there was a problem. The factory box magazine is / has been re-installed. Infact, its back to 100% original, it just works better that way. IMO

Also, if your worried about 922r, you will have a box of parts that you'll have no use for if it doesnt work....

To me, an sks with a detachable magazine is why the Soviets developed the AK platform.

Mine were the old steel mags, not tapco. i dont know how those work....fyi

I've got a couple of the SKS-D that take AK mags, they work well. I'm still interested in any actual experience with this SKS drum -- it be even cooler if it wasn't detachable and fed from stripper clips :)

Do be aware that you'll have to play the parts count game to ensure 922(r) compliance, which adds to the cost (if that is an issue).

Wally, That is a fine combo IMO. Without select fire to tip the scales to SKS over AK, an sks with a reliable detachable magazine is great.

I have seen them, but they are not common!

Man! I want one too..Yup who cares about practicality, all drums are cool.... centerfiresystems.com has them for $129....Awesome!

Hi, Not sure if I would want to deal with the weight of a fully loaded 75 rd. drum magazine attach to My Carbine. Doesn't have any ftf issues with any of the 4 Tapco 20rd. magazines I use . But if it functions and Your willing to carry it, I would like to hear how it works WVleo
