Okay where to start. Got a Chinese SKS years ago and it doubled, the problem went away. This morning i took apart the trigger group, took out the sear and the hammer fell. cleaned everything and put the sear back in and it was fine, trigger wouldnt pull though. Took it apart again and put it back together, this time the trigger would pull. The only thing i did was blast the heck outta it with carb cleaner:uhoh: anybody have any ideas? LEt me guess I probably need a new trigger assembly.

Wow, there are a few problems it could be. If you are not the first owner, it might have been 'tuned' by Joe Sixpack. I had a factory gun that was doubling when I function checked it. Sent it back to the whoesaler for another one. Yours might be a fouling problem, but I wouldn't trust the gun after that.

Forgot to mention the doubling only happened 3-4 times, not during the same time period, i doubt if it was a bump fire but who knows:confused: It happened over the space of 6 range sessions, it would happen once in a blue moon, never consistantly and would happen when it felt like it.

Edited to add: I forgot, I think the only time I had problems was with the original wooden stock, switched to a fibreforce and I dont think I have had a problem until now. And I am not the first owner, I think we got the sks 3-5 years ago, problems only occured the first year. If I remember right since the new stock we haven't had any doubles.

I am concerned since i saw how to take the trigger group apart, it stated that the hammer should stay cocked until you depress one of the safeties, and the hammer I have just bypasses the safeties. The hammer spring seems stiff enough, I had a hard time getting it off while it was clamped in a vice(surrounded by a cloth I might add), but I dont know anything about the other spring, not the magazine/sear spring, the problem only occurs when the sear is removed.

http://www.sksboards.com/forum/ You could try asking here. It sounds like you could use a new sear but I'm no expert. You can also get a trigger job from a forum member there that will make your pull better and fix your problem. His name is Kivaari. Mark

Kivaari is pretty good with triggers, Give him a try.

Have you completely taken the bolt carrier apart and cleaned out the firing pin channel? SKS's do not have a spring to hold the firing pin in place. If the creepin' crud gets in there it can freeze the firing pin in place and cause slamfires and other problems.
Go to the SKS website and look around. The answer to your problem is probably there someplace.
Don't give up on your SKS. They're too much fun.
