I recently got a lightly used RIA Tactical, and have put about 200 rounds through 'er myself. I'm noticing that the slide stop lever is noticably wearing on the underside of the slide, and is actually creating a fine bur that I can catch with my fingernail. I'm wondering if this much wear is common or normal, or if it's an issue, and what would be recommended.
Thanks in advance for any info or advice.......

I've had a couple of RIA's but didn't have that sort of issue. Do you use the slide stop as a slide release? That could be part of the problem. Regardless, it would appear that the slide is made of softer metal than the slide stop. You might consider call RIA and speaking to them about it, their customer service is said to be outstanding.

Mine did this as well. It was sent back for a different issue regarding the slide stop. However, they never addressed the marring at the stop, so I don't know if it's considered an issue or not.

I no long have the gun though.

I wonder, is your manner of gripping the pistol causing the stop to ride high? Also, I'd like to see the portion of the stop which is causing the metal displacement of the slide.

It's caused by the angle on the rear of the slide stop lug not mating with the angle on the rear of the slide stop notch and/or not having full engagement into the depth of the notch. It can also be caused by poor heat treating and all of the above. It has nothing to do with using the slide stop to release the slide into battery. Just dress the burr down with a stone.
