Mods, sorry, this should've gone in accessories. Please move, or point the way how... My apologies for the screwup.

I have looked at holsters and such, and given my current shape, I think the best way for me to carry would be I/O WB in the small of my back. I don't sit up against chair backs much, I'm usually sitting on the edge of the seat hopping up and down.

Both my office chairs are close-in on the sides, so I think I'd get hung up on anything that side carried.

Might be able to carry at the 4 o'clock position, but then the grip would have to be reversed butt-forward for me to grab it. An older shoulder injury would require me to turn my arm to draw... Which seems weird.

So small of back seems the best. Possibly in a cargo pant. But most likely small of back.

Probably going to carry a FS 1911, although I am batting around the idea of getting an EMP, or perhaps the Kimber RCP II.

Any suggestions on where to start/experiences? THere's lots of places with holsters, but the vast majority seem to be IWB strong side, right at the 3 and 9 o'clock position.

The problem with SOB carry is that if you fall and land on your gun, you can suffer a serious injury to your spine. The fall can be as little as a fall from a standing height. In general, carrying a hard object right against your spine at that location is a bad idea. I'd look for another carry location.

+1 on what trebor said. I carry mine at the 3 o'clock position IWB and it doesnt get in my way at all, even at home with my daughter if im carrying in house its fine.

I carry at the small of the back because of work. I wear a toolbelt a lot and the bags sit on my right and left side. Having 10-15#'s of tools rubbing against a pistol on my side isn't fun.

If your concerned about falling, etc. as they mentioned above, you might want to consider a shoulder holster inside your dress shirt and outside your t-shirt. Another option would be one of the keltec's with a pocket holster or laser on it. Possibly with the keltec you might even be interested in the lanyard option worn around your neck.

I experimented with different things and I usually end up with a belly band with the weapon in the small of my back. It's the most comfortable spot for all day wear.

Besides the fact that its comfortable to wear, a belly band doesn't drag down my pants while wearing a toolbelt. Also, when I go to the restroom I don't have any worries about the pistol slipping and someone spotting it.

I also carry a BUG in my boot using a clip draw holder. Either a keltec .32/.380 or a s&w 38/357. I do rotate this out with a keltec/laser combo in my back pocket.

I picked up the belly band on the web, can't remember where now, but they are easy to find.

A SOB holster, mounted at 4:30-5:00 will be comfortable to wear, even sitting, and still keep it off your spine. Most people warning about the dangers or discomforts of SOB carry have never tried it. I use a horizontal SOB at 4:30 for my PT-145, and find it quite comfortable, even in the car, and my wife carries her P3AT in a suede Bianchi left-hand clip-on IWB that she wears at 4:00 and draws cavalry style. She often leaves it on after she gets home, because she doesn't feel it, even seated.

SOB is basically anything from 4:00 to 8:00.

OK, a SOB holster will probably work the best for me. However, in just reaching around, I would have to have the weapon on my right side, like at 4, with it pointed down and to my left. Or at least the butt pointed towards my right side, instead of the other way.

Which I think is the "inverse" of regular SOB holsters that put the grip so that you'd grab it with your palm in, I would need palm out, sliding my hand down my back

Every one's putting SOB...:D Ha Ha
Well with that out my system lets get to it.
Pros= Very comfortable / Easy to get a full grip.
Cons= Getting in and out of a car is a bitch / And I tend to get noid with people behind me. Constant wondering.

I carry at about 1 o'clock wearing a t-shirt. Loaded Glock by the boys is somewhat scary.

Palm-out is the cavalry style draw my wife uses...Just use a left-handed holster on the right butt cheek. She uses a IWB style holster with a thumb break.

I just ordered an 'Undercover' holster..

from D.M. Bullard of Azle, Texas. What attracted me to the holster was the extreme forward cant. I plan on carrying my full size 1911 in this holster past the point of my hip at about 4 o'clock. In essence it becomes a S.O.B. worn at that position. Of course it is an OWB holster so I can wear it closer to the point of the hip if I want to. 75.00 and about a two week turnaround.
