Smith and Wesson 39-2 Problem

When I try to clean my Smith and Wesson 39-2, the slide lock/release lever is impossible to push in, making it impossible to clean the gun. Is their anything I can do about this?

Thank's for the quick response. I will try that as soon as I can find some "Break Free CLP" in my area.
The 39-2 is such a great shooter.~

Texas, if it's still too tight after a squirt of Break Free try pushing on it with the plastic handle of a screwdriver. Sometimes they are a bit tight and you can push on it easier with the screwdriver handle without marring the metal.

Try jiggling the recoil rod as you push on the lever. If things aren't lined up just right they'll sometimes be a bit difficult.

And make sure you have the slide in the right position.

I give the exposed end of the slide stop shaft a little "persuasion" with the butt end of a screwdriver handle to get it started moving.
