I saw the title and before seeing the OP I just knew Snake was at it again!

Well done sir, well done. The good old 66-2 is one of my favorites as well :).

I do wish I had the original wood grips rather than the Pachmayr Presentations it came with, Snakes grips look great.

Stay safe.

15 years ago I bought its twin for $325. Sold it stupidly to buy something else. It would cost me more than twice what I paid for it to replace it. This year I made a vow to not sell any more revolvers. The prices in them just keep going up.

I learned the same hard lesson the same hard way. There are lots of guns I wish I had back and I can't even remember why I sold them. Dumb I guess.:(

I would beg to differ with you sir. It is my belief that the S&W Model 686 is one of the finest .357 revolvers S&W ever built, along with the Model 27.

The 19 and 66 are my favorite revolvers as backup carry guns for rifle hunting. I had the nice folks at Andrews Leather build me a cross draw rig to keep the hammer off the rifle stock when moving about. RCBS 162g hard cast with a stout load of H-110.

All-in-all, the 4" Model 66 is simply the finest revolver ever made.
Maybe the finest K frame revolver. I've always loved the M19 and M66 because of their size and balance. I had a M19-2 long ago, traded it for a M66-1, and I rue the day I sold the M66 to a friend. Not much of a friend, he won't sell it back, LOL, but at least I know it has a good home. I finally found a nice M19-3 to replace it. But lately, I've come to love the big N frame guns, too, and can't say the M19 is a better revolver than the M27 or M28. They sure look good together, though. OP, your M66 is gorgeous, looks brand new.

Sucks when the “ friend” won’t sell you back your gun! I sold a mint RARE Romanian md65 to a pal and he won’t cough it back up .. that’s one I can’t duplicate

I got badly outbid on the two model 19s I mentioned earlier. Oh well. I have a Ruger Security Six made in 1986 IIRC and its a decent model 19 replacement. The trigger is not as good as a model 19 but its not far off. I guess I will just have to be happy with that. I should never have sold the 19s and 66s I used to own.

You don't mind selling something when you think you can always get another. Some lessons are hard learned. Don't sell your best guns ever.:(
