smith & wesson mod 29-3 with proof marks on frame barrel and cyl on the barrel over the marks is these letters(wischo) i guess the gun has been out of the states, thanks for any help! *csa*
Wischo is a German sporting goods distributor. Proof marks are therefore likely Krautish. They require government proof house testing and marking of imported guns just like new manufacture there. Obviously they don't trust an American manufacturer's testing.

In Germany, ALL guns have to be proofed by law, even $10,000 Merkels. It's not about distrusting another coutry, guns made in Germany also need proofing, and this is NOT done by the manufacturer, but by the state.
