...And I do believe I'm quite impressed with it. I havn't cleaned it up at all yet, as I just recieved it yesterday, and havn't had the time to, but it's in GREAT condition. The pictures don't do it any justice. I have spotted NO nicks or anything in the stock at all, and everything from the reciever to the muzzle is spotless. The stock and a few other various parts have a tid bit of cosmoline in them, but it shouldn't be a problem. Oh, and don't start telling me how overpriced they are, because I personally think the quality is worth it. ;)

Anyways, now for the pics:

I'll throw some more in if I get a chance to take any I clean it up.

I love my M48A....I bought it for $225 and it looks brand spanking new.

I also threw on some mojo sights...awsome.

Question, is the steel on the buttplate, bayonet and bolt chromed, stainless or just in the white? It's mighty shiny.

I got around to tearing it apart today... The outside looks fine, but once you get the metal from the wood, it's a cosmoline hell-hole. :uhoh:
This ones gonna take a few days...

Best thing I got for my Cosmoline covered treasure was a $40 hand held steamer from the home depot. Melts the cosmoline right off. I bought it after being frustrated getting it off the trigger group of my Yugo SKS. Wife will love it too.

ok for clarification, are you speaking of teh one that looks like a plastic "teapot on LSD"?? or one of the larger units that comes with a wallpaper removal tool/end and a wand tip?? (can you tell i work at the local Home depot?) i ask b/c the little teapot looking one is cheap enough i might buy it before my next surplus purchase.

The *only* M-48 stock I've ever seen that was absoultely cosmoline free turned out to be a wonderful dark blonde color. The orange tint on so many of them is deeply imbedded cosmoline oil.

Laying the wood out in bright sunlight on an indian summer day and a
hairdryer on the metallic parts will take care of a lot of cosmo. And,
yes, yet more will still ooze out when you shoot it. Then you'll repeat
the whole process again.

Yes, I am referring to the one that looks like a black teapot. Comes in a blue case with some attachments. I normally just use the nozzle tip, which gives you the most concentrated steam shot.
