So the Remington "Tactical" series is out?

Saw one at the gun show today. Kind of looked like a gussied up Express.

They've been out for awhile.. Remington only recently updated their site.
I like mine a lot. The R3 buttpad it comes with really does kill most of the recoil. The shotgun looks really cool too. :D The 8 shot capacity rocks.. turns a target completely into confetti without having to reload.

:D

I have one as well. I *think* that they were released as far back as the 2004 SHOT show; either way, I bought mine last Sept., and haven't seen that many out there.

I think it's just painted on.
Mine has hasnt chipped or become stratched yet.. then again, I've only put about 25 shells through it at the local range. Havent beat on it much at all.

Crazed, I'm in a similar situation (low rounds and no hard work). However, I'm taking it out to Frontsight for a 4-day course next week (first training course with a scattergun for me). I'll let you know if there are any issues with the finish, or anything else for that matter.

Now, that's interesting. The 1100, instead of an 11-87? Does it function better with 2-3/4", low-recoil loads, than the 11-87?

Remington's not offering it, because it's more reliable than the 11-87, are they? Just curious.

So are these essentailly standard 870 with a different (possibly better) finish h and a different set of stock/forend?

It would seem so. But they do look a bit more "tactical", as the name implies.

Ok 'splain the price difference to me please.

Went to Sportsman's Warehouse yesterday.

They have this for $499.00

They have the Synthetic 18" for $229.00 (bottom pic with the shell extension.)

You can purchase a Knoxx stock for $129.00, which is what is installed on the "tatical green painted 870" from the factory.

$229
$129
____
$358

(Saving $141 (that's allot of BA/UU/R))

Are there constructional differences in the $499 870 that the Synthetic does not have?

OR: Is the "Tactical" worth the extra $141?

Thanks

could be express v. 870P ... ?

Are there constructional differences in the $499 870 that the Synthetic does not have?
RTFM, I can't see the images well enough to answer that with any kind of confidence, so take this with a huge grain of salt until someone more knowledgeable than me responds.

It could be (just a guess here) that the more expensive "tactical" one is based on an 870 Police model (870P), where as the less expensive one is built on the Express. (Added by edit: if so, then there should be different designations printed on the receiver of the one at Sportsman's Warehouse indicating it's a P and not an Express...I think...again, take with salt...)

If that's the case, then yes, IMO, it is worth the difference in price.

I explored the differences between 870P's, wingmasters & express ad naseum on THR before buying my 870P. I paid ~$150 more for the P, but IMO, it was worth it.

Others will have better knowledge of those guns you're looking at, however.

Thanks Nem, I'll hold off on the purchase untill Monday or so to see if anyone else chimes in.

Thanks B_T. And that's what I was afraid of.
And also, I like the black better.

Anyone else care to comment on the "Tactical"?

Found something else out.
The "Tactical" is a 20" tube with a three shot extension

The Synthetic is a 18" tube with a 2 shot extension.

So 1"=$70.50

And (drum roll please......ddddddddddddddddd)
They paint it twice for "durability'
