After 15 years of martial arts I can tell you this... anything can be used as a weapon. A true professional guard will know this. However they may not stop you with a cane not because it can't be used as a weapon but more so because its not on their list of weapons that are restricted. An example of this is a bar, If they know you have a large knife then you can't bring it in. However I can carry my pool stick into any bar with out ever being question. Doesn't change the fact that with it I could clean out the bar, its just not a listed weapon therefore allowed. You could write a book on all the things you could carry as a weapon and never get stopped.
