As the title suggests, these are on sale at Sons of Liberty’s web site for $103.20 Not affiliated, just a user of their stuff and a fan so far, enough so to have placed an order on the above.

Specs:
5.56 NATO, 1/7 twist, 10.5” 4150, Carbine gas, 1/2 28 threaded, .078 gas port, .750 gas block journal, QPQ finish (barrel and extension), HPT, MPI.

This one is for my parts stash but yeah, I went 7.5” on my first and 10.5” on the second. Much improved.

I ordered one. Hope you’re happy with yourself.

Come on, you know it’s a steal at that price! I sorted through their site hoping beyond hope they might have another sale on an 18” rifle gas barrel or a lower in stock to no avail. Tempted to buy another and build pistols that remain in that configuration for my two youngest kids.

I do think we’ll both like the barrels.

Nice Skylerbone. I also found a deal at Optics Planet. Ballistic Advantage 11.3" Hanson profile barrel with .625 (I think it is) gas block journal and pinned low profile gas block for like $150. I also got a Faxon 8.5" 9mm barrel from them for $125.

SOLGW has some nice stuff from what I've seen in reviews. There's a guy on youtube that goes my GarandThumb and I saw his review of it. Looks to be to first rate stuff. Like on par with Bravo Company, at least.

I really like that they publish the size of their gas port. .076 should work nicely. The 10.5 Ballistic Advantage barrel I have has a .073 port and it runs everything, including steel case, although every once in a while running the steel cased stuff, the bolt won't lock back. In all honesty though, I think I made a mistake putting an adjustable gas block on that barrel. I didn't take into consideration the amount of gas that the block will leak so even wide open, the bolt is getting less gas than it would with a plain jane block.

Mine might end up on my new Saint pistol if I need some extra length to mount the suppressor I just ordered (Omega 36M). So it 'may' gather dust for a year (probably not).

Guess what I just found in stock at Primary Arms??? Act quickly and they may still be in stock...minus the 1 I bought.

Ha, sold out! I dodged the bullet on that one. `Course, I've only added four AR's to the stable in the last month or so. I do see the SIG Romeo6 I just got for $269 is now back up $450 so I'm proud of myself. :p

I gave that Sig a good long look but I think I’m going Eotech. If vacation doesn’t bleed me dry I’ll start looking at optics in earnest come mid-July.

I was shocked to see a SOLGW receiver in stock, I’ve been checking almost daily for more than a month hoping to pick up a Soul Snatcher. I’d really like a matching upper as well but that is true vapor ware of late. I did see on their site the Broadsword Enhanced Set was going for north of $500, a little too rich for me right now.

I think I made a mistake putting an adjustable gas block on that barrel.

I ordered a standard set screw gas block today but I still have a stainless clamp on JP Enterprises AGB I might throw on (my other SOLGW has a 10.5” BA barrel and JP). I like that the Son’s barrel is heavy on gas flow without being overly so; enough for good function. I think with the BA and an AGB you’ve got options for a lightweight carrier or reduced power spring to tune impulse, very flexible.

I got the SLR Sentry 7 AGB, which was supposed to be a really nice one. I liked the setup due to less chance of carbon lock, but as it turns out, they still recommend that you give the screw a spin every 500 rounds or so and every time I do that, whatever carbon sealing has taken place is broken. For me, 500 rounds is once or twice a weekend. I was considering getting a lighter spring/BCG, but then I came across an 11.3 BA Hanson barrel with a pinned gas block and I figured that I'd go that route. It was what I really wanted anyway. It appears that I'm gonna have a 10.5 BA barrel with low miles on it that I'm gonna want to get rid of soon, if you're interested, let me know. That'll get done in the next couple of weeks.

My attention is on my first 9mm build right now.

Nice Skylerbone. I got my 11.3 Hanson in yesterday. I have mixed feeling thus far, but haven’t shot it yet.

The spec of having a pinned gas block really got me, but turns out it’s kind of misleading. When i saw that it had a pinned gas block, I envisioned what you get with a pinned front sight tower. Pinned with solid pins and it’s either on there straight or it isn’t because it ain’t moving. I was thinking that it was going to be easy. Remove the block to install the barrel, replace the pin and all will be lined up.

What it actually is was the gas block was drilled and there was a corresponding relieved area in the barrel for the pin, but the “pin” is a roll pin. It does NOT serve to line up the gas block or hold it in place. It will keep the block from sliding down the barrel, but it doesn’t stop it from spinning a bit. The set screws are used for this. The kicker is that the barrel isn’t dimpled for the set screws.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m expecting too much, but if I knew all of this before hand, I may very well have gone with a Faxon barrel and put the savings toward a good clamp on gas block that wouldn’t have left my barrel with gouges in it for no purpose. Well, I guess the pin will stop the block from sliding, but if the set screws come loose, there’s no guarantee the block won’t twist because the pin won’t stop it from doing that.

@TonyAngel have you got a pic of that gas block? I’m trying to wrap my head around why it would be that way. I’ve dimpled all of my Ballistic Advantage barrels using the Kaw Valley Precision jigs so it was nice to see the SOLGW barrel was factory drilled.

Here’s a link to a pic....https://photos.app.goo.gl/egrDt5rUcnrcwy8d6

Yeah, may be unreasonable, but i’m a bit disappointed. I usually use clamp on gas blocks so i don’t even have a jig to dimple. If i can find an old sight tower, i’ll make one. At this point, i kind of don’t want to remove the gas block. I have it in straight. If it comes loose or i have to pull it off again, i’m gonna replace it.

I take back all of my gripes. When zeroing it for 50 yards, I put three rounds of Frontier M193 though one jagged hole, four times.

The barrel is also very properly gassed. With mil-spec spring and H2 buffer it shot smooth. With Wolf ammo, it wouldn’t quite lock back on an empty mag. Switched to a standard buffer and it ate 200 rounds of Wolf doing reload drills. That’s 100 reloads and it locked back every time. Just to see, I put the H2 buffer back in and it short stroked. Locked back on the carrier, not the bolt.

Very predictable behavior. Inspite of the thing with the gas block pin, I’d buy this barrel again.

The weight distribution on the Hanson profile is nice too. It feels light on the front end. At first, I was over shooting my transitions.

I was cobbling together on-hand components this evening and I won’t likely get started till late July on an actual build. Just sent 3 kids off today to Washington and the rest of us will be following next week for close to a month. I managed to pin a new ejector on a back up bolt while waiting for the extractor. Also test fit a JP AGB and I think I’m gonna use it instead of the low pro I ordered. Still waiting for an SOLGW upper to be in stock. Luckily I have a boat that needs some attention these next few weeks.

Man, that's a nice bench block. Where'd you get it?

I was out of town over the weekend but my barrel came in. How's the muzzle flash compared to a 7.5", any less? That damned 7.5" Saint is blinding in low light.

I can see it now, I'll sit on this barrel for a week and then the next time I go to the local shop, I'll end up with another lower or two. Then before I know it I'll have another hungry mouth to feed. I knew it was a trap but I stepped in it anyway. :p
