Hi!
The letters on the barrels of my express are worned out becouse of barrel swaps. I have a 26 and 20 inch barrel. Mine was bought as Express combo with these barrels. It has Laminate stock.
When did remington begun with these laminate stocks on 870? Can i get info of when my 870 was made by the receiver number?

I believe they started using the laminate stock on the Express models in 2007.

The matte finish can make it difficult to read the date codes. Use a magnifying glass in good light and you should be able to read it. Swapping the barrels should not have an effect on them

I guess you are right, its the matte finish. Thanks for the help.

Another question. Can I use my express barrel on an older wingmaster? Ive heard the receivers are different on the older wingmasters.

Some old 870's receivers , only eject 2 3/4" shells in 12 ga. There was a standard and a 3" magnum receiver.

It was, is possible to change the ejector, but will not looks good.

"... when my 870 was made..." Remington says, "call or email us the serial number and model number we can determine the approximate age of your firearm. Contact us by email or call us at 1-800-243-9700 Mon-Fri 9-5 EST."
The difference between an Express and a Wingmaster is the stock material and the finish. Same thing otherwise. Barrels are interchangeable. Wingmaster's weren't always the high end kit either.
