Someone ELSE'S gun ...

Has it happened often that a friend hands you his gun at the range for a few rounds, and you shoot better with it than you were shooting with yours? Or, better than he was shooting with the one he handed to you?

Must be a concentration thing. Seems to happen with a few folks I know. Just curious about the "phenomenon" ...

My experience with phenom is that because you are using an unfamiliar pistol you go back to the basics. Front sight and press the trigger. You don't know when the sear will release so you keep concentrating and boom it goes. I can do the same thing with my pistols if I just force myself back to the basics.

I think that it just means you shoot better than your friend!

Happened to me in my NRA instructor class, Guy next to me was really struggling and i was doing, thats about all, doing. But i offered to trade with him as i was interested in (him/gun). He outshot me in the next relay and i did better than i had been with his. I almost traded .45"s with him>

Yes it dose happen. maybe their is just a little pressure relived in you, Kind of a Re-Boot??

I've had a few instances where a shooter has complained about the poor accuracy of his handgun, and has given it to me to try out. I usually find out there is nothing wrong with the gun.

In most cases, it's like what 10-ring said. Some folks are just more experienced shooters than others.

What really got me was bench-resting an XD, and having it hit consistently to the left, braced down solidly. Hand it to a friend, he hits center, more or less.

I wondered if the guy doing the proof sheet at the factory was "drifting to his own twitch."

I tapped the sight over slightly, the gun benched on center. Handed it to my friend, he shot in the same place.

(Later, he admitted he had been watching from the next lane. When he shot the first time, he compensated a little for where he saw the shots hitting. on me.
