...and bad things happen to good knives.
So here's the story. When Swamp Rat discontinued the Resperine-C for handle material, I ordered one of the last Howling Rats. For the past few years I've abused the snot out of this knife. Much of the coating was worn and there were some good size chips of coating coming off at the tip. I was bored this past weekend so I went to work removing the coating.
You'd be surprised at just how many kinds of ugly can be hidden under powder coat/paint.
With no further adue...
Hows this for an edge?
I'm kidding. Thats not the edge. Thats just whats left of it after polishing the rest of the blade. Its in line for a sharpening now.
I had originally put a mirror finish on the blade. Since its a user and I couldn't get the finish as clean as I wanted it at the tang, I went over the blade with a 3000 grit wet. As you can see, some of the character marks didn't come out. Doesn't really matter as I intend to add more .
