I already knew about French Creek Outfitters, but was turned on to Target World by TFR folk. Bought my last five guns at the latter and continue to be happy with them. I was wondering if there were other suggestions for good service, selection, and just the aimless wander around the aisles on a rainy Saturday.

Tanners on York rd in Jamison (RT 263). MUCH better pricing than Target World and aside from one individual whos name I can't remember at TW, better and MUCH more knowledgeable staff over all as well. It may also be considered Warminster or Warrington (they're all close right there) but it's just north of Almshouse Rd on the northbound side.

For non-military long arms and a great selection of handguns, reloading equipment and misc accessories, I go to Shyda's in Lebanon PA -- it's a hike but one of the best stores I've encountered.

For military long arms, I'm usually at a loss. I've heard Keifer's and Boyer's (near Allentown) are good but have little first-hand experience other than purchasing one rifle at Keifer's three years ago.

Donns Guns - Rt 309 Montgomeryville (just N of the "5 points" on the left)

Archery Outfitters(was the "old" Donns store) - Rt 309 Montgomeryville (just N of Donns on the same side across from the old Edelmans )

Dimmigs - Rt 202 Chalfont (just N of 152N on the left)

Quimbys - Rt 313 Dublin

Also in Dublin at 313 and 113 is a small gun shop on the NE corner, cant remember the name.( not always open)

There is also one on 313 just before you get into Quakertown as you go west from Dublin.

Beylerts(old name)- Rt 611 Pipersville (across from truck repair shop)

Neshanic Depot - Rt 611 - Ottsville (Black Powder - Primitive store)

Claytons - Horsham Rd.(463) Horsham Just behind the Willow Grove NAS

The little one on 313 and 113 is called Donleys. Great shop, specializes in ARs but does a lot of different "assault" style stuff as well. He works full time and the shop is like his "2nd job" but he's generally there most afternoons until 6ish. 313 near Q-Town is called the Nockamixon Sport Shop, guns are an afterthought in there, it's more a fishing store than anything. Dons is good but a bit pricey. Don't think Beylerts is there anymore, there's an auto repair shop in that building now. Another like Donleys is out on River Rd near Bridge 5 I think, it's called Bills Guns. Give Mark Andre a call at 215-766-2254 and he can give you details and a number to that place, I think it's more a hunters speciality shop.

Ed,
I like Quimbys and Tanners the best. Dimmigs can have some different stuff too, but I dont go in there that much. Like RepublicanMan said Donns can be pricey but you can come across deals there once in awhile, same with Archery Outfitters.

Anyone have a recommendation for a local FFL that will do transfers (e.g., purchasing from CDNN, not a private xfer) for a decent clip? Somehow going to Colosimo's and paying $60 per transfer isn't in my future.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I think the original poster may also be interested in finding a FFL for when the local gunstore doesn't have a particular gun in stock.

Thanks.

Justin

going to Colosimo's and paying $60 per transfer

Man, don't go there for anything! Unless you LIKE paying for used what other shops charge for new.:fire:

I learned the hard way.

Top choice- Lock's Guns on Frankfort Ave.

2nd is S. Phila Archery and Gun.

If you're at French Creek, you're near two others in Jeffersonville:

Gray's Outfitters
2458-C WEST RIDGE PIKE
Jeffersonville, PA
The store is a mess, but he has a little bit of everything and is always willing to work with you.

InSite Firearms
2118 W Main St
Norristown, PA
This is about a mile down the same road from Gray's. The shop is nicer. The handgun selection is nice, but small. They have a better long guns selection. There is the added bonus of a cigar shop down the hall.

and then there's:

Classic Pistol
1310 Industrial Blvd
Southampton, PA
This is about 30 minutes east toward Philly. They're more upscale with a nice indoor range, gunsmith and training facilities (oh, and full-auto rental). They have a good selection of handguns and almost zero long guns.

There is also the nearly legendary:
Shyda's
1625 S. Lincoln Avenue
Lebanon, PA 17042

I believe Donelys will also do FFL transfers although I couldn't quote his fees. GIve him a call at 215-249-1790 or email him at [email protected] and I'm sure he'll answer any questions you have. Be forewarned, he's longwinded and LOVES to talk about guns.

Well, got to Tanner's and Surplus City so far. Tanner's is packed with goodies and the one "test price" I requested came in about ten percent lower than TW. I'll be going back. Surplus City is a small shop that had four salesmen and no customers when I went in. The guys all proved to be very friendly, checked a price without complaint and gave me no hassle as I handled a few of the floor models. Their joshing with each other made it feel like a small town barber shop. Truth be told, I'm still not as comfortable in the small shops where you feel like you're being scrutinized the whole time (even if you're not). I prefer having a lot to look at and being somewhat inconspicuous until I have a question or want to see something behind the counter. Just me.

I was at Tanner's last Thursday. Bought a couple small items and got a price on a CZ 452 Lux. Heard the one young counter guy relate that his son's name is Samuel Colt _____. It's packed full of good stuff.

That young guy is Dwayne, real good guy and seems pretty knowledgeable. The real "deal maker" there is Ray Tanner Jr but everyone there is great and can help you with most anything. Each seems to have a "speciality" though so don't be surprised if you ask one something and he grabs one of the other guys to answer you. I think I was probably there loitering that day but who knows, Dwayne's so proud of his boy and that name that I think he tells everyone that will listen. lol

Donn's gunshop has the best showroom of any gunshop next to Targetmasters.

Donn's also gives better prices if you tell them you got a better price somewhere else.

I know a few dealers that only charge $30 for transfers.

InSite Firearms

I recently discoverd Insight Firearms and love that place. The people there are some of the nicest people I've met at shops.

p.s. Just incase any of you in PA missed this thread..THR Pennsylvania Gathering

gun shops s.e. PA

I'm not familar with the gun shops listed......but had to mention TROP gun shop on the outskirts of Elizabethtown..found it when my daughter was in college there...better prices on re-loading supplies than any place I found in my area...
