The Stainless model is very shiny. What is this one made out of?
Hooray for these rugged little snubbies!
.
Where can you buy those wood inserts from?
thats just rugers target grey finishThe Stainless model is very shiny. What is this one made out of?
The wood inserts in mine are more darker wood.
Yes this is a special edition. It didn't cost anymore than the others. It looks great with the wood inserts. It's the Ruger "target gray" finish that came on the dealer exclusives (Lipsey's I think?).
I do really like it quite a bit.

Oh yes Now I remember I changed on another revolver from the wood grips checkered to the black rubber pachmyer which was quite an improvement.Pie job...just a minute or two.
Those wood inserts with the polish shine is beautiful. Is that stainless steel finish or nickel plate? I have the grey finish. If I get another one I would have to see this shiny finish.Get one, you won't regret it. Mine was not polished, did that myself and put a night sight on the front. I'm a die-hard S&W revolver fan with a few Colts thrown in. But the SP101 DAO has become my favorite carry gun.
The wood inserts in the grips look nice but I carry it with Hogue rubber grips. Never was a Hogue grip fan but they are perfect (for me) on the little Ruger.

IS NOT. That is the factory grip with the black plastic inserts removed and replaced with wood inserts...same rubber, different panel. The wood insert is or isn't a Hogue grip?
I never did understand this but the ones that came with the wood inserts already, were those limited editions?IS NOT. That is the factory grip with the black plastic inserts removed and replaced with wood inserts...same rubber, different panel.
The Hogue grip is a solid rubber one like TwoNiner and Weevil pictured a few post above.
The finish is polished stainless, not nickel.
