A recent post was asking about a folding stock on a level action and reminded me of a question that I've asked myself, why doesn't someone make a folding stock for the Ruger 10/22 that's worth a darn? While looking at the Keltec SU-16C, I thought a 10/22 with a folding stock that had room for a couple mags would be great survival rig. A replacement for the AR-7 or the Henry version of it...

They do:

BTW, the Butler Creek folder is considered one of the best on the market (I have one on my mini-14 and it's rock-solid).

I am looking to get a Ruger 10/22 SS and put it in a Butler creek unit like above. I will probably put a williams peep sight on it instead of a scope, it will be sturdier.

i like my butler creek folder!!!

i have an AMT Lightning (Ruger 10/22 clone) that came new in a Butler Creek folder. it is a better stock than it looks like it should be. there is no slop in either the open or closed position, and when closed, the gun is a small and light package to transport. i like mine.

Just because I could.

I had never really been interested in this type of firearm until the gov'ment said I couldn't have one and then said I could.

I took a 10/22 that I've had forever and put it in a Butler Creek folding stock with a flash suppressor (you really need that on a .22lr) and a red-dot sight. I also modified an Uncle Mike's nylon sling into a front carry "tachtical" type to complete the ASSAULT LOOK. It's amazing how much ammo you can squirt through that thing using 25 rnd Hot Lips (avoid ramline) magazines.

The BC folding stock is a very good stock, quite solid and easy to install/use.

question

I was interested in purchasing a butler creek folding stock... but i read some of the terms in the assult weapon ban and i noticed it said folding stock and pistol... would the butler creek stock be legal to install on my .22 here in PA?

any information would be appreciated.

thanks

The AWB expired in 2004 (thank goodness), and PA doesn't have a state-level ban (very few states do). So it's perfectly legal to install a folder on your 10/22.

Butler Creek folding stock...Gooood!
Ramline folding stock...Baaaad!

Take that advice from someone who made a baaaad choice before making a gooood choice.

I love my Butler Creek. My dad gave me one right before the awb and I probably
had more fun with that .22 than any gun I've ever had the pleasure to fire. Thats including my Norinco MAK-90, PT1911 .45, and the full-auto suppressed HK MP5 at a full auto shoot at Dragon Man's.
