I'm looking to get a either an SP101 or a Speed Six in 9mm. I know the SP101 takes moon clips and they're readily available, but where does one find moonclips for the Speed Six? Are the chambers properly reamed on the Speed Six to allow shooting without moonclips? I realize that I'd have to punch them out one by one to eject the cases, but at least it'd be shootable.

Thanks.

HAven't made the 9mm Speed Six in a good while, so are going to have to hunt the used gun lists. Belive someone made full moons for it...know they were issued with 1/2 moons (I had them butt welded into full moon clips).

Chambers were cut to alow firing without the moon clips. So is the 101. The only one I've run into that wouldn't allow that is my S&W 940...two of the chambers are cut a tad long, so it's a clip-only-gun.

Some years back I owned the sp101 in 9mm. The reason I bought it was for snubby plate shoots.I thought I would beat out eveyone else on tthe reloads .If anyone has tried they will find how difficult most snubby guns are to reload, short ejection rod doesn't clear emptys well and speedloaders don't have much clearance aganst grips on the tiny guns. Logic told me that the 9mm with full moon clips would be a quicker surer reload. I found I had many problems with
bullets shifting in the cartridge due to the sharp recoil. Some factory loads (generally heavier bullets) were ok but lighter bullets and most reloads would shift around some ,sometimes locking up the gun. I was looking for the lighter recoil handloads for quicker shots from plate to plate but it just didn't work out well. Found my best bet to win was to practise and make the first five shots count on the 38sp gun .

I own a 9mm SP-101 and have had zero problems with it and like it a lot. I have wanted a 9mm Speed Six for years and just haven't had a lot of luck turning one up here in California. As to clips, Ruger still sells the ones for the SP's but I don't know about the Speed Sixes.

One more plea- anyone in California with a 9mm Speed Six that wants some money, give a shout for a done deal.
