I am in my Cabelas, and picking up bullets and primers...(not much to choose from BTW and prices are up! but I had a coupon)...anyway...I have heard of all the spray on wonder-super-magic case lubes out there and decided to give it a shot. I normally use Unique case lube BTW...very good lube just time consuming.

Bought the Cabelas brand spray lube (alcohol and lanolin) followed the directions and this stuff just does NOT seem to work...like I was trying to resize dry cases! So I treated them again..still hard...very afraid of getting a stuck case or ripping a head off. Went back to my Unique and all is well...nice and easy and smooth (full length resizing .308 BTW).

What say the experts...is it just the Cabelas brand or is there a better brand? Any tips, what is the general consensus?

Shake well before using and then spray all the cases lightly, roll them over and spray lightly again. Let them dry for a few minutes.

Thoroughly clean the inside of the sizing die and degrease. Then spray the inside of the sizing die and let it stand until the spray is dry.

If you've done all this, and it still doesn't work for you, try another brand of spray lube. I like Hornady One Shot, but I've used several different brands and they all work the same.

Hope this helps.

I use a Walmart bag, spray sides with ZEP 40, add casings, shake a minute or two, dump into a coffee can then run them through resizer. Pistol only, hand roll rifle casings using lube on a pad.

Tried pad lubes, then spray lubes, then finally Imperial sizing die wax & ain't ever looked back since.

I make my own spray lube ( lanolin and alcohol ) and it works great, same as dillon spray lube I've used in the past.

Here is the link for the recipe.

For production runs of 308s I use a couple large cookie sheets lined with paper towles to set the cases on. I spray lube one side getting a minor amount on the inside of the neck ( very minor ) then rotate 180 degrees and spray again. Let the alcohol evaporate and size.

Thanks for the replies.:)

I followed all the directions....shook the bejeezus out of the bottle to mix it, let it dry, (I didn't treat my die though I did clean it) ....sprayed the brass twice...and then a 3rd time...still very hard. As soon as I lubed up a case the old fashioned way (with unique)...easy as pie.

Must not be enough lube for full length resizising rifle brass....heck I don't know.

I'll give it a shot on some pistol brass next.

You have to lube the die the first time. Don't ask how I know this! I full length size rifle brass all the time with spray lube, and it works fine, but the die also needs to get a shot of it, but you should only need to do this once.

Try spraying the inside of the die after cleaning it, and before you size the first case. It will make a difference.

Hope this helps.

I was getting pretty good at removing stuck cases until I started using this:

Since then I've been able to put 5 - 8 cases in the palm of my and just barely dip my finger into the lube, less than a drop is plenty for each handful of cases. I rub the cases back and forth a few times and they are good to go. So smooth it's crazy compared to the One Shot.
