Hey guys, I have a question. I just had a major impulse buy and picked up this Springfield 1911 at a local pawn/gun shop. They were just putting it in the case as it just came off pawn. I have never owned a 1911 and didn't do any research on the model.

It is a model PX9154L and looks exactly like the model PX9154LP on the Springfield website. Not sure what the P signifies. The case sticker says '1911 .45 Combat'. I was kind of surprised to see that it said made in Brazil-Imbel. I thought they were made here. On other pictures of this gun around the web I don't see the Brazil marking.

Can you guys tell me if everything looks right about this gun based on the picture? It looks brand new and hardly shot if at all. The mags don't have a single scratch on them. I paid $600 bucks which seemed good but like I said I had done zero research on 1911 pricing at all.

Thanks.

600 is a fantastic price!... gun shows and shops out here in San Antonio have then between 700-800 for that model.

The Brazil markings are totally normal. I could be wrong but i believe they have the frames cast in Brazil and they assemble the pistols in the US.

as for what the "P" means in the model number. I have no idea.

but you did very well, thats a fantastic price for this model and it turns a lot of heads thats for sure

AH HA!... Found it.

LP vs L means yours didn't come with the holster package. The LP comes with the springfield package including holster and mag pouch

yours case, compared to this case

OK, Thanks for the quick response guys. I feel a lot better. I didn't really have buyer’s remorse I just got it so unexpectedly I didn't know anything about the gun. I usually overanalyze everything. Thanks Kingofthehill for finding that case pic. Can't wait to try it out.

no prob. I have an older all american Loaded stainless model that has a lot of work done by a big name smith and i really wanted the "Black stainless" model. I ended up just having it refinished to look like it.

King, that is nice. That refinish job is fantastic and the grips pull it together. I've been doing nothing but reading about 1911s since I got home and it's amazing what you can have done to these things.

nothing to worry about. all 1911s that Springfield Armory sells start out life in Brazil. BTW none of the frames or slides of Springfield 1911s are cast, all of them are forged in the IMBEL factory

the 1911s marked "made in USA" have more than 50% of their machining/final fitting done domestically

Nice buy.

Don't worry, if you actually do get buyers remorse, plenty here who will give you $625 for it.

I have several 1911's including a PX9154L and it is one of my favorites.

I think I paid about 650.00 for mine several years ago so I'd say you did just fine... Enjoy

Thanks guys, I had a feeling it was a good deal but just didn't know. I guess it was just lucky timing as he was just putting it in the case off pawn. I stripped it down and inspected it real close and everyting looks brand new.

I'm chomping at the bit to shoot this thing but as soon as I got home it started to rain. Stupid hurricane Alex.
