I am kind of all over the place with my gun wants right now.

I am really enjoying aluminum framed 9mms as well as my Ruger PC Carbine.

In the 90's, right before the Clinton ban, I was going to buy a Colt 9mm AR. I had it stashed away, but the store where I was working was making a killing on all things AR, so I let the owner sell it, thinking I would get one from the next batch. Well that did not happen. I did stash away some Colt magazines in hopes that I would one day pick up a 9mm Colt AR.

Lately I have been seeing lots of ads for the Springfield Armory Saint. After spending a few hours on youtube and the internet, they appear to be good rifles. I realize that this would not do anything my Ruger couldn't do, it would be more of scratching an itch from long ago.

I haven't seen any posts in a while on THR about these, but I know a few folks picked them up.

Does anybody have any insights to share? I know that Colt still makes them, but they are harder to get in CA. I would love to have one with an A1 upper, but I am not seeing any of those in production and don't feel like building one.

I am trying to keep nostalgia in check, but it is getting hard.

My concerns with Colt pattern rifles is the lack of a proper feed ramp that needs FMJ to feed reliably, at least IME.
Hard to beat the reliability and accuracy of the Ruger.
If I were buying a AR 9 it would be a Glock mag type with an advanced feed ramp for reliability with HPs.

My Colt Pattern 9MM AR runs on almost any JHP, but can be picky with TrFPs, go figure.

If I were in the market for a 9MM carbine these days I'd be looking hard at the S&W M&P FPC.
