Springfield XDM .45?

I know this is probably not an original topic but for god's sake where is a .45 XDM? Has anyone heard anything about Springfield releasing one? I want to buy an XD 45 but I am worried the second I buy one Springfield will release an XDM .45. I wonder why there isn't one out. I figured they would show one at the shot show this year.

Springfield DID indeed announce (at this year's SHOT show) that the XDm45 is in the works and coming out this year. There has been no official release date though.

They have said they are producing one in a 40 though. I think I saw it on their web sight. But I suspect that since I just bought a compact 45 they should be out any time tomorrow:banghead:

I personally wouldn't wait for the XDM45 if you're going to carry the gun. Some of the "improvements" in the XDM are not improvements at all for a carry gun. 'Match Grade Barrel' being the first and most obvious one. Tighten up the chamber on a gun that's designed for 'eXtreme Duty' use? 'Tighter slide-to-frame fit' is another bad one. I haven't seen a comparison torture test or reliability test between an otherwise equal XD and XDM but I do not think, as good as the M is, that it's as good as the XD for real-world use. My XD45C is a tack driver that will eat garbage ammo dipped in mud all day long. If you want a range toy or competition gun, by all means wait for the XDM45. BTW, I'll get one myself when they do come out but it won't be replacing my carry XD.

I'd have absolutely no remorse having just bought an XD45 Compact. The XDm 45 isn't going to have the versatility of the 2 different size magazines/grips (no official info released by SA on that...just my very strong hunch).

The XD45c is in a class by itself and even though I own an XDm (9mm)...I like my XD45c better....even if the XDm was in .45

I think of the XDm's more as a range/target pistol....where my XD45c, I throw in an IWB holster w/the stubby 10-round magazine all day long.

I like the grip on the XDM better I have girl hands so getting them down to my size would seem better. However I do not mind the grip on the XD I like it a lot better than I thought I would. It is just a nice shooting gun.

I can't wait for the XD(m) 45 to come out. I'll definitely get one. I love the feel and look of the XD(m) and would like to get one, but everyone and their grandma here has one in either 9mm or .40. Hopefully they'll be able to get the 13 rounds in the slim grip of the M.
