I have a Star 31P which I bought primarily because it promised brute strength and longevity. The gun literature of the time, plus letters I wrote to 'knowledgeable experts' in the early 90's confirmed that this pistol continued to work at rental ranges long after others had faded.

The pistol is heavy, the parts are thick. It's designed like a Ruger, but with more sense of aesthetics.

I have to ask... would not this pistol be suitable for +P ammunition? I read occasionally that +P is not recommended in this gun. Mr. Camp's site says this as well.

Not that I plan to shoot any real quantity of +P, but I do have some hottish subgun ammo that use in this gun. The thing is built like a serious tank, from what I can tell.

What am I missing... +P or no?

IMHO the 31P is the strongest of the Star 28/30/31 series. My 30PK has 1 barrel lug,the model M30 has 2 and the 31P has 3.They were tested at the factory with high pressure loads of 43,000psi.I shoot +P in my 30PK and 31P.I really don't think it's an issue.

I have a 30M, which I assume is similar.
They were Spanish Military pistols, and I understand they are still in use in some military and police applications. They would have been designed to be used with the NATO 9mm ammo, and they are built like an anvil, so I don't think +P would be any problem.
