Hi all,

I picked up a box of 1000 unfired Starline 10mm brass thinking it was 10mm Auto. It turns out that it's 10mm Magnum brass (case length = 1.250" as opposed to 10 mm auto which is .99").

I'd never heard of a 10mm Magnum - until I looked it up and found out that IAI made a pistol in 10mm Mag. From what I read, very few of these pistols were made.

Is this stuff worth anything or do I have a white elephant on my hands?

Eddie,

I don't know how much it is worth. Starline sells it for $136/1000. I don't think there can be too much demand for it. If you want to sell it, shoot me a PM. I might know someone that can use it if your price is fair.

Sadly your ownly recourse is to have a custom gun built. I suggest a super blackhawk or raging bull as the platform.

I assume you're joking, but the thought did cross my mind. I'm planning on buying a S&W 610 revolver. I might look for an extra cylinder to modify for 10mm Mag.

Ya, I think all you have to to is just have a smith bore out your cylinder a bit deeper, provided it's long enough.

There are some minor things that have kept me from having a 610 rechambered. The main thing is that I don't see the benefit. The 10mm Mag doesn't enable you to take bigger game than the standard 10mm. The added velocity doesn't do much for me as a 200+ grain cast SWC from the 10mm already has all the penetration I need and I don't shoot well enough to take advantage of the added effective range. Plus, there are six good chances to ruin a perfectly good cylinder during rechambering. It just seems like a waste.

I still think about it.

I heard its thicker than 10mm brass also... Actually, I only remember that because some guy posed extra heavy loading information with a super tiny disclaimer that it was TRIMMER 10mm magnum brass.
Might take awhile, but you could chop it down and have 10mm brass with REAL nice longevity, i think.
