Starting to have doubts about the NRA.

What is the ACLU's position on gun control?

ARGUMENTS, FACTS, QUOTES

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free
State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
The Second Amendment to the Constitution

"Since the Second Amendment. . . applies only to the right of the State to
maintain a militia and not to the individual's right to bear arms, there
can be no serious claim to any express constitutional right to possess a firearm."

That my friends is the official ACLU line.I have no right to possess a firearm according to them.If you support them, you have no choice but to believe you have no right to own guns either.

I was under the impression that the Supreme Court specifically stated we DO have a right to bear arms, subject to regulation, in the Emerson case. Somebody wanna set me straight here?

The NRA is a narrowly focused interest group. That is, it's purpose is to defend and promote our firearms rights and the favorable interpretation of the 2A. To take other "rights" into account in their endorsements and activities, would dilute that purpose.

If you don't like the fact that they endorse candidates who are not only pro-2A, but also pro-fascist (or whatever), don't join the NRA or contribute. Simple as that.

So the ACLU truly believes that when the Founding Fathers wrote the Bill of Rights, they wrote nine amendments addressing individual rights and decided to throw in an extra one addressing state's rights just so they could have an even 10?

Righttttttt.... Sure they do......

They're pushing a political agenda just as surely as every other politically oriented non-profit org in the country. And they don't consider the right to protect yourself and your family to be a civil right because only government can be trusted to have guns.

:cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

Nope. They just don't like the result, so they argue the right doesn't exist.

I do like what some of the ACLU is doing because im a more left leaning kind of person, but it baffles me that they'll defend nazis and child molesters, yet they dont even give a thought to us gun owners :fire:.

I agree, but i do think Dems are the lesser of 2 evils.

Really? You like socialism? If so, then fine. Otherwise...

Who do you think stopped Bush from granting "guest worker" status to 11 million illegals? Hint: It wasn't the Democrats.
