Just bought a Steyr M9 and have about 200 rounds through it so far with ABSOLUTELY no problems. Gun seems to be great this far, especially seeing that I paid $300 for it NIB!

But because of when it was manufactured, there are no official hi-caps for it. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I have hear that the M40 mag will work, but it will need to have the lips crimped a little and will only hold 12 9mm (not much point).

I have also hear that S&W Sigma mags will hold 17 9mm, but need to have a new mag catch hole created with some "Dremel-magic", but I cannot confirm this.

Is it worth trying to find something, or just not worry about it?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

There have been mixed comments about the SIGMA mags in the Steyr M9. I have a couple for sale if you wanted to buy one and be the THR guinea-pig to try it out... ;)

Walther P99 mags fit in the magwell and lock the slide back. Beretta 92 mags *may* also work, but they do not lock the slide back on the last shot.

The M40 mag in the M9 was confirmed by (IIRC) Zundfolge and feeds and functions perfectly. Just don't bend the lips to the point that they won't feed a .40 anymore as this would be considered as "manufacturing" ( ) a new device... We may not like it, but them's the rules... ;)

Other than that, there are no hi-caps for the gun.

How many rounds will the Sigma mag hold? How much are you selling for? I don't mind being the guinea pig, as long as it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg to do it!

Did Zundfolge have to bend the lips a little on the M40? How was it done without damaging or making it so it wouldn't feed 40s? How many rounds of 9mm should you be able to get in it?

I have an M40 that I bought and opened, but have not used. I didn't want to alter it, so I was thinking of selling to get something else. Thoughts?

I was selling the Sigma mags for $60 each shipped. They hold 17 rounds of 9mm.

I think I recall Zundfolge saying that he bent the lips in approx. 1mm total. You will definitely want to wait until he wieghs in here or you do a search before you go bending things though... :uhoh:
