Stoeger 22 Luger Help

I just bought this used luger 22 and downloaded the operation manual. I noticed in the instructions that the toggle is supposed to stay open when you pull it back without bullets in the clip. But mine doesn't seem to work. The only way I can make it stay open is to pull it back and put the safty on. But even when I do this it doesn't stay firmly in position. Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong with the gun. It has plastic grips and 5.5 inch and the serial is 6339.

Magazine problem most likely. The magazine should have a lip that pushes up and the toggle catch, sounds like yours may be worn to much to work properly. It could also be a problem with the catch itself but the mag is normally the problem.

Wow quick response thanks. I think you are right about the clip. I just pulled it out and pulled back the toggle and inserted the clip and the toggle will stay open. But it seems very touchy.

There is also a spring that works in conjuntion with the toggle catch. It is located on the right side of the throat where the magazine rides. If it is a magazine issue, they are available at EGUNPARTS.com
