Words fail me. :neener:

OMG.

I can count the numbers of the dead livestock pulled from trailers in the Meat Triangle over the years, those dont get into the human food chain.

Oh by the way the killfloor uses a gigantic pad with big jolt of electric, kills em instantly before they suffer and they are gutted seconds after.

actually, the electricity (or captive bolt stunner) only stuns them. The dramatic blood loss that follows is the actual method used to ensure death, per the USDA.

Reminds me of a radio news story during the Feb. ice storm.

A station in Louisville was doing interviews at a hardware store, asking folks about generators. One lady was asked if she was worries about possible asphyxiation if her her soon-to-be-purchased generator weren't vemted properly.

She said that she wasn't worried because she was going to buy an electric generator instead of one that used gas.

Natbe she wrote the comment in the article in the OP. :D

Sum girl I worked with at a steakhouse when I was 16 got mad at me for going bear hunting she told me walmart would sell it to me and I wouldn't have to hurt one. She told me they sell deer too. I informed her that that would be illegal in nc since inorder to sell it you
have to be the one that killed it

I think they need to be culled from the rest, bad gene for sure and would not want their meat to get mixed in.

Yeah, doesn't she know you can't buy Prairie Dog steaks down at the store?

Maybe the writer of the notice should visit several of the slaughterhouses. Chicken, turkey, cow, hog.

Probably go stone cold vegetarian.

Of course I have heard ignorance is bliss. :D

Something vegetarians should be aware of: Cropping 100 acres of land with modern mechanical agricultural methods will kill and maim more mammals in one growing season than most hunters will SEE in their entire lifetime.

That's too funny.

Sad thing is, their are such ignorant people that would eat a hamburger or steak and not think that it was once mooing and grazing in a field.

At least we know we will never starve as long as other people think beef or pork that they buy at stores is "made" by the store. LOL

Well, all things considered the Meat Plants are doing very well keeping up with the Nation. It is one thing to stand next to cattle staring you through the fence as they go up the ramp to the kill floor knowing that hours later they will be in the trailer on the way to NYC or Chicago Markets as processed meats in different cuts.

One other thought. NOTHING in those livestock is WASTED... NOTHING. If memory serves even the Hoof is used along with the hides and everything else.

What they DO do is try to keep certain guts OUT of the human food chain and send them in special trucks to ... dog and catfood plants to be processed into food for animals and pets.

Finally but not last, nerve material sometimes harbor sickness and think those are seperated from the meats and sent away to be processed.

There was a great episode of "Dirty Jobs" with Mike Rowe a while back where Mike went to a Rendering Plant.

There they process dead livestock into many things, including leather and chicken feed. It was one of the grossest episodes I have ever seen...

That and the chicken ranch...
