Stripping finish off Remington stock.

I want a chemical stripper to take off the space age strong-as-steel plastic finish on my Remington 700 BDL stock.

Suggestions?

Brownell's sell a special stripper to remove Remington's "Bowling pin" finish:

I would imagine that a good paint store would have something to strip epoxy-type finishes that would work.

My Remington stock has a black plastic forend tip. Do I need to protect that, somehow?

I'd test it with a tiny drop of whatever stripper you use.
Usually, the tips are pretty solvent-proof.

I've used regular paint strippers on older Remingtons with shiny finishes.
