Stuff in movies/shows that detract from the experience?

In the first Terminator movie the killer cyborg goes to execute one of his many victims and he (Arnold) blinks when he shoots.

I’m pretty good about seeing my muzzle flash but I might blink rarely. If I was a cyborg and I blinked, I would be ashamed!!

Remember “Wanted Dead or Alive”? Steve carried the cut down mare’s leg, which took basically pistol cartridges, while carrying a bandoleer of .45-70’s.

Another screen anomaly, large caliber semi-autos with suppressors which are absolutely silent. The slides would make more noise than they portray.

Harsh crowd. Lately I only notice when TV shows are getting gun stuff right (CBS seems to have made a concerted effort; the Hawaii 5-0 re-boot made strides during its run, SWAT got some tech advisors who got the show to display some guns and tactics okay, despite the show being the "most woke" of any show EVER on network TV, and SEAL Team probably has more technical advisors, ex-mil and gun guys involved in production than any show in TV history).

I started watching the Amazon flick "Without Remorse" and couldn't get past the female SEAL team commander. (maybe if it was set thirty years in the future, or maybe she was trans -- there is now one trans active duty SEAL) And some of the over-the-top action sequences that left me wondering who was in charge of all those expensive shenanigans... the book was far better and more believable.

Original showing of the superb "Band of Brothers" (hands-down, best TV mini-series in history) -- I think it was early in the concentration camp liberation episode -- soldier (can't remember which one) holding his 1911, replete with modern, high 3-dot sights. May have since been edited, but I need to re-watch from the beginning on Blu-Ray, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

The most frequent is the never ending number of shots produced from six-shot revolvers. Or the snipers that shoot completely silent .308 rounds with a "silencer". But, my favorite is the Wild Bill Hickok sidekick, "Jingles". He shoots a longer barreled six-gun. While holding his wind-blown hat on his head with his left hand, he flings the bullet out of his pistol as if throwing it and hits a guy running full speed on a horse. Sure wish I could shoot like that!

A group of people with guns are getting ready for action and the movie inserts a bunch of generic gun sounds. Or maybe the character repeatedly racks their shotgun before using it.

A lot of low budget movies have people with guns firing full auto from the hip at people or objects 50 feet away and can't hit anything. Usually for the convenience of a having a hand to hand fight.

One of the characters gets within a few feet of the unarmed person and holds their gun out to be conveniently kicked out of their hand so the hand to hand karate fight can start.

Hostage situations where almost any competent shooter could plug the bad guy in the head, but everyone holds fire for fear they might miss from 10 feet away.

I quit watching television in the 1990s.
I'm no masochist.
If I hear good things about a show or series then I'll buy it - no commercials that way.
Like I said, I'm no masochist.
Most recent purchase - all seasons of Grimm.
Gun handling, weapon handling and HTH are pretty good all of the way through.
I loved Portland, but it's also fun to watch it being torn apart by non-human insurgents... .

When engaging a moving convoy going around 50MPH, 900yards away, with shoulder fired small-arms: a 1.5mil lead is good to go. If you need to shoot down a approaching helicopter overhead, no holdover or lead is required. Also, best to aim at the smallest mechanical area on the machine. Also, snipers hand operate the bolt on their semi-auto Barrett M82A1 for enhanced antiaircraft accuracy.

And he racks the slide for every shot
Yes, excessive slide racking is very distracting. Firstly, why are all these police and bad guys so often carrying with an empty chamber and secondly, it doesn't have to be racked each time you are about to walk through a doorway or say something dramatic! (sometimes, without shots being fired in between)

To be fair, I ony watched the movie and critiqued the movie. In the movie it was supposed to be a nuke and not a chemical weapon.

Chemical ex as in TNT/RDX or similar, used as the initiator to collapse the nuke material to criticality. A nuke misfire is a Fizzle.

Alright! Grimm is also my wife's and my favorite TV series, and we too have all of the seasons on DVD. I've never really got a good look at Nick's handgun though. Is that a Glock of some flavor that he carries? He sure put a stop on that "Reaper" in the first episode with that handgun.;)
We also have a few seasons of "Gunsmoke" on DVD. They're entertaining and we enjoy them, even if they're not all that "accurate" when it comes to guns.
The problem we have with "Gunsmoke" is there were so darned many seasons that buying all of them on DVD would be terrible expensive. If we're going to spend that kind of money, we rather spend it on guns, gun related things, and hunting equipment.:)

I couldn't get through the trailer on that show. They took an outstanding book and completely rewrote it and ruined the story. In the book, he never operated on a team, it was only in a couple of flashbacks that he even had contact with other soldiers. Women at the time of the book weren't even allowed in combat roles. It seems they just wanted the creds of Tom Clancy in the name of the flick, but wanted all the flash and bang they could get. Had the film been made on the book's story line, it could have been a real hit, I think.
