The biggest thing to consider is whether you can tolerate a pistol with a DA/SA action (double action on the first pull and single action for subsequent pulls) or prefer an SA pistol or DA only pistol. That's a huge difference in the user interface! To me this it THE KEY deciding factor in choosing a pistol! Two different trigger pulls in one gun equals WHACKO, in my opinion.
Personally, I wouldn't have anything to do with a DA/SA action. I believe in the high value of consistent trigger pulls for every shot. Give me a consistent trigger pull for every shot, whether SA or DA only. Preferrably SA only for me.
I vote the Glock 19 (I consider this SA-only-ish) to be the ideal carry 9mm. With the Glock 17 mag (for around the house/RV) you get 18 rounds on tap. With the standard mag (for concealed carry), you have 16 rounds on tap. Awesome accuracy, ultimate reliability, excellent capacity, moderate cost, widespread user-base, huge aftermarket support, huge number of readily available parts and accessories, easy concealability, consistently short and nice trigger pull for every shot. All of that spells nothing short of: SWEEEEEEEEEEEET! (What gun can compare with that?) That's my vote.
