Hey gang! Well I did it:
I called GG&G and they said they had a left hand model of their forend light mount in stock. I bought it along with one of their light mounting rings, recommended by the guy who answered the phone. They seem like nice people! I have a Surefire G2X Tactical flashlight on it but do have a FAB Defense Speed Light on order, which is about 1 1/2" shorter than this light and very compact.
I am going to hit the range tomorrow when my case of slugs comes in from UPS. The local indoor range allows nothing but slugs, and this will give time for the Loctite to set up. My only concern is that the rail section is going to smack into my hand under recoil, it very well might and I am prepared with a plan "B" if it happens:
I got a Remington +2 extension and am using an old CDM MOD-C mount but will probably get an Elzetta high output shotgun illumination kit which comes with their mount and their B142 flashlight. Pricey but supposed to be top of the line kit.
I would prefer that the 4+1 setup is the successful one. The gun handle so incredibly well with the stock tube, but if my hand gets beat up too bad, I'll just go with a +2 extension and add a good light and mount. Here's to hoping but if not I am sure I'll get used to the +2 extension with time and practice.
I'll let you all know how the range trip goes tomorrow!
