I have a box of Suter's Choice Hard Cast .358 bullets, and I'd like some suggestions for loading them in .38 special. I have 231, Bullseye and Unique powders. Has anybody tried these?
 
No, but.

125 RNFP cast Bullets is bullets, no matter who's brand name is on them.

Alliant's website lists Bullseye & Unique powders you have in the Cowboy load section, and recommended data for 125 grain RNFP bullets.
Bullseye = 4.8 grains.
Unique = 6.0 grains.
Reduce 10% for the Starting loads.

Hodgdon website lists W-231.
3.8 Start - 4.8 Max.

The 125 grain RNFP and TCFP bullets are "the bullets" for most .38 Special Cowboy Action Shooting. They work well in revolvers and lever action rifles, if loaded to the proper length. My wife and I go through over 10,000 of them per year in matches and practice sessions.

I load mine with Bullseye, since it meters very well in small quantities, but Winchester 231 or Hodgdon HP-38 work equally well. Some shooters are using American Select, but I found it to be inconsistant in the small charges required for light .38 Special loads.

Thanks - I can't seem to find a website for Suter's Choice bullets, and after reading what Missouri Bullet had to say about hardness, velocity, and leading, I wondered what the hardness of S C bullets is. I'll try a few with 231, shoot them through my really old Model "F" Chrony and see what it says.
 
From what little looking I did, it seems Suter's Choice bullets were made by an older fellow in IL. A few years ago, Graf's and some other retailers were selling his bullets.

More recently, it seems he may have retired.

As for hardness?
My rule of thumbnail is:
If I can scratch them, they are soft.
If I can't scratch them, they are hard.
If they shatter when bent with a hammer, they are very hard Linitype.

So, try scratching them with your thumb-nail.
If you can scratch them, they are soft enough for standard pressure .38 Spl loads.

If you can't scratch them, they are more like harder for Magnum velocity and may possible cause leading at low pressure.
