So, after doing a good cleaning and touching up some blued areas, she told me she didn't want to be cut off, she wanted to be out in the world, not under the bed. So back to the drawing board with a cut off.
When I got home from work today I started looking for screw in chokes for my new baby so I can shoot slugs from both barrels if I wanted, went to ebay...started browsing and SON OF A GUN...20 INCH STOEGER COACH BARREL....BUY IT NOW...SO I DID...now the old girl can have the best of both worlds. Just gotta find a improved choke for her.
Funny how things work out for the best, and for all those who told me not to cut a barrel;)

Another model is the Springfield 5100, which is another Savage/Stevens brand. Same model as 311, etc., just different name.

I'm not a fan of Limbsaver anymore. They really absorb recoil well, but the rubber breaks down into a mush. I have a Remington 7615 pump that the pad disintegrated off of. My Baikal has one. It's trying to melt away. Out of desperation I started wiping it down with Ballistol. Seems to be helping. Good luck with yours. Do a search on Limbsaver and you'll find a few similar stories.

Nice shotgun. I love coachguns. They're so short to begin with, you don't need to make a sawed off. My Baikal has working hammers and changeable chokes. Good bumming in the woods shotgun. Hammers are rebounding, so drop safe.

You knew this was going to happen, I've had a limb saver for a number of years and no signs of deterioration yet but I don't leave it in the sun. Maybe that makes a difference. Used to have it on an M44 Mosin to extend the stock. They do absorb recoil better than any others I've tried.
