right now im talking to dawson about getting a lawman with nightsights. ive got to see what they price it at, but its still within my price range, the upper part of it though.

so far all ive heard is good things about STI so thats making my purchuse much easier.

Sti does not make the lawman in 9mm and to have a 45 converted to 9mm would be very expensive, your best option you be to get a sentry in 9mm. But you are really starting to approach the price of a sti double stack and for that price you can get a really nice 9mm double stack for around $1400 - $1500 and it would have a all billet frame and slide, with a polymer grip frame, they are really nice guns.

then just buy your self a SA range officer, for around $700-$750, the gun will easily shoot 2 inch groups at 25 yrds, that is all most equal to my $1700 les baer .

The range officer will definitly out shoot your ability. A lot of the more expensive 1911's your just paying more for the stripling and extra fancy features that you don't really need .

The SA RO can also be cheaply upgraded to any extra features you may want.

Or get this kimber series 1 gold match it is new and only $999 , I have the exact same gun and it is equal to my les bare 45 acp in accuracy and trigger pull and has all the features you will ever need http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=227223647

Ain't gonna try to talk you out of it, buddy. One of the guys at the Ammo Bearer (my local gunshop) shoots comp with his Trojan. He loves it, and the only pistol he likes better is his STI Perfect 10. STI's have an EXCELLENT reputation, and a Trojan will serve you very well indeed.

I have a spartan which i know is on an armscorer cast frame. The pistol is fit great though and is very accurate. Truthfully i was suprised with the quality, I have really enjoyed the pistol and i am sure the trojan is even nicer.

If you know you want a 1911, why did you trade yours away?

On of the big advantages of a 1911 is that you can do just about anything with them, due to the healthy aftermarket.

It doesn't make sense to trade them away, then immediately start looking for a new one.

Consider a used one that is close to what you want, and don't trade it this time.:)

smaug- i dont know many that wouldn't trade a Springfield GI and an henery survival rifle for a 16' bass boat with running motor and clean titles (guy went through a divorce and wanted it gone) :D

Cast vs. Forged means nothing, dare you to try and wear one out or prove how one will outshoot the other... who cares, no one besides 1911-snobs who shine 'em more than shoot 'em.

A Trojan is the best $1000 1911 available IMHO, period. The fitting and subtleties like the under-cut trigger-guard and top-shelf STI tool steel hammer and sear set it apart, a SA Range Officer, while pretty nice, is not in it's echelon, a Trojan will embarrass many $3k customs, get one and you'll see.
