Hello,
Does anyone out there use a filler in their 38 Special cases, or other calibers for that matter, when using a fast burning powder for target loads? There seems to be a lot of empty space when using say 2.8 grains of Bullseye in a case as long as a 38 Special. I remember reading a long time ago about people using filler material to keep the powder near the primer. I have been away from the gun/shooting/loading scene for over 20 years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Nope, not in light target loads. I've shot 2.7 grains of Bullseye under 148 grain HBWC bullets for years without a problem. When I was shooting on our pistol team in PPC competition, I shot at least 1,500 rounds of this per week and another 360 rounds per weekend in matches. All you have to watch is that you don't double charge a case.

I do use Super Grex as a case filler in my .45-120 Sharps, but that's a 3.25" long case........

Hope this helps.

Fred

"...I've shot 2.7 grains of Bullseye under 148 grain HBWC bullets for years..." Ditto. Although my GP100 likes 2.5 of Bullseye in .357 cases. No need for a filler.
