I dunno about Missouri. Its a felony for ANY citizen in Wisconsin to own one.

one shot per load
not exactly good against two attackers or more

techonolgies like these would rapidly change if the market was big enough. thing is, EVERYONE would potentially have one. Criminals WOULD KNOW they would be paralysed and brought to face justice.

It was also pointed out in another thread that as soon as the shock stops, the criminal is immediately physically capable of continuing the attack. I find tasers suitable for police use where they are seeking to detain or apprehend a suspect, and use this to stop the fight long enough to act. For self-defense, you better hope it works the first time, shock 'em good, and run like hell.

some basic "disarming" drills could be taught in the classes. it would still be WAY better than nothing.

Yes, it would be better than nothing, but there are much better options. I would much prefer an anti-gun person carry a Taser than nothing. My primary concern would be people using them too soon because it's "not lethal", but a CCW-like class to carry one would be good (continuum of force, use of force, etc.).

I foresee criminals wearing more than two inches thick of clothing....

Maybe if it didn't cost 30 dollars a cartridge it would be worth it.

Nah.

A gun is cheaper and more efficient than a tazer will ever be.
