My brother's got one. I've shot it a lot (having had custody of his stuff while he was living in Japan for a decade and a half).

The design is similar to Beretta's tip up barrel popguns.

Reasonably well made, in the sense that the metalwork is decent, and parts aren't going to break after light use like with a (for example) Jennings (yes, I speak from experience with that too).

Not particularly reliable. I couldn't find an ammo that would make it reliable. That said, if I could get one cheap (<$100) I would, just to tinker with.

No extractor -- it depends on spent powder gasses to blow the case out.

The wifey has her heart set on getting one of those in blue, with gold accents and pink grips. Hope she finds one soon. I've pretty much promised not to buy any more handguns for myself until we find that one for her.

And yeah I like the looks of the blue/gold/rosewood, myself. It would match my Taurus 85. :D

I've had a PT-22 for about 10 years and I haven't put a lot of rounds through it but no problems with it so far..........handy pocket gun.

I've had one for a couple of years now.
It is an ok pistol, not the most reliable but fun to shoot.
The only real problem I've had was a broken firing pin after about 500 rounds.
Factory repaired it n/c and I had it back in 6ish weeks
Mine works best with very hot ammo, otherwise it does not cylce.

Well I bought my daugther one just like your wife wants.
Its a POS First time we tried to fire was lite fireing pin strikes We go thru about 30 roundsand quit. It was then I noticed those crap plastic grips had cracked. Returned to factory Took six weeks to return . Today we fired first time shot each trigger pull . Grips broke again in 2 mags 16 rounds of 22 LR and they broke. Trash. It also is trash can lid accurate at 10yds.
Go buy a Beretta M-21 and have a good pistol for just a few $ more.

Strange.......the grips on mine are wood.......and they are factory grips.

I really wished they made a .22LR upper that would fit on the PT series of pistols...

I'd love to have one for my PT-111.

I don't know why they just don't make a millenium in 22LR

I had a PT22. It was the first handgun I had ever bought. Normally I am sentimental about these things. Not with this gun. I just sold it and am VERY happy that I did so. The DAO pull was annoying at best and it was a difficult pistol to get on target. It was comfortable in the hand, but too fat for a reliable backup or pocket pistol for it's size. Why carry one of these when Kel-Tec offers a thinner gun in a more powerful caliber for a little more money?

Reliability was pretty good. I only had one real problem with it, the firing pin disappeared. One day at the range, I fired the pistol and nothing happened. I took it to a local smith and he told me that the firing pin wasn't there. Sent it to Kel-Tec, it took 6 weeks, but I finally got it back free of charge.

This is a novelty pistol and not something to seriously consider for carrying. Get a real pistol in a real caliber.
