I went to the range this week with a friend from work who just bought a new Taurus 24/7 in .40.
I had a real hard time with the trigger. It was smooth and light, and it managed to suprise me every time it fired. However, it felt like I had to pull FOREVER!

I've tried Glocks and XDs before, but they seemed to be half the pull length. I kept thinking that the trigger had to be touching the frame before it would fire.

Is that normal? I'll admit to being a 1911 fan, so any double action-ish (I know that this has a new marketing name, but you get where I'm going, right?) feel long and odd. Even after getting used to the M9, this still seems long.

Anyone put one of these through its paces? It seemed light enough that you could get pretty decent with it, but I just don't know about pulling that far..

It's like anything else, once you get used to it, it's not so different. It took me a couple of range sessions to get familiar with mine, but now I am used to the long pull and don't even think about it anymore.

Well, it's a DA trigger, the Glocks and the SD's aren't. It's just different than the Glocks and the SD is all.

Is there any after-market fix for shortening the pull, yet? I'd be fine with a heavier pull if it was just shorter.

Thats normal for a 24/7. The thing that may be throwing you off is that it has a long initial uptake. As for a modification to shorten the pull, I am honestly not sure. Truth be told, I really haven't seen many/any after-market parts for a 24/7, even though it is a very solid and reliable gun.

Sorry, but you're incorrect on all three.

The OP said it was a new 24/7, which means it's the 24/7 Pro. The 24/7 Pro has a SA/DA trigger. It is SA upon loading the gun and will revert to DA for "second-strike" if a primer fails to ignite. The trigger pull is long, but there's a "stop" before it gets ready to break.

The Glock is categorized as a DAO since pulling the trigger finishes cocking the striker and releases it.

The XD is SA as all the trigger does is release the striker.

Well, I am only wrong on two of those points then, because the SD is not a DA gun!

You are right, I neglected to notice "new", and automatically referenced my own 24/7, which was not a Pro and was a DA gun.

My apologies.

I had one in 45. The trigger was the main reason I sold it. Very long pull and I could feel when the firing pin safety was being pushed by the trigger linkage. Basicly to me it was DA/SA gun that I couldn't decock when it was loaded. Mark
