DAO, snub revolvers can be an excellent choice for both beginners and experts alike, but they IMO they are almost ideal for a certain subset of the CCW crowd - folks who are not really into guns, who are intimidated by any sort of complexity, who just need something simple and instinctive to use at close range.
Any semiauto pistol has complexity... don't put your thumb behind the slide, remember that the chamber may still be loaded when the magazine is empty, remember that the chamber might still be empty when the magazine is loaded... does it have a safety, a slide release, a take-down lever, a decocker? How badly will this gun respond to a momentary lapse of trigger discipline under stress?
DAO revolvers are like windex bottles. Grab, pull, squirt. That's it. Lapses in trigger discipline are not likely to result in discharge. There is a lot of good there, for this particular subset of people.
The main problem is bulk - size and weight. A tiny, light gun with a good trigger will fill a real need, I think. Too bad the trigger is not good, it really needs to be. Maybe they can get it fixed in the next batch.
