Taurus .45acp tracker 5 shot Got one???

Hi All I am interested to know if any of you have a taurus .45acp tracker I am most interested in the 4" model.

I like the idea of a 5 shot k frame size .45acp revolver (weight 29 oz), as opposed to the S&W offereing of .45acp six shot in an N-frame size package (weight 44 ozs>).

I saw one of these at the range and its owner was very pleased with (the model 455s4 IIRC) his. These go for about 1/2 the price of the smiths.

I hope someone with some experience gives an answer as I too am interested in this Tracker iteration.

All gun stores stock around here are Rugers and Smith Revolvers in 44 Mag. and SA 1911s.

The Tracker model 455, 4 inch .45 ACP is a fine firearm. My son has owned one for about two years and hasn't had any complaints of which I an aware. I have put 50 rounds of commercial and 50 rounds of my own handloads through it. He loves the Steller clip feeding and extraction. The only thing I personally do not like is that it will not accept the thick .45 Auto Rim cases that I prefer in my S&W M625. The tolerances of his gun seem pretty tight through out, and my handloads would not always chamber, but the ones that didn't would not pass the chamber gauge test either. However, they chamber fine in my M625 and M1911. His is an early production gun and I believe some them were produced with tight chambers. It is much lighter than my M625 and carries comfortable in a hip holster for woods and hiking, etc.

I for one, as a second party, can recommend the .45 ACP Tracker.

I bought one of the 455's, the titanium compact 4",
not the tracker. I have not weighed it myself, but the
catalog lists it at 20.8 oz. As you might imagine, there is
some muzzle flip, but it's comfortable to shoot, the "ribber"
grips perform as advertised. I ordered it over the phone,
sight unseen, and expected a project, but all I did was clean,
lube the innards, and lightly smooth the rachet. It shoots great, the SA
is very light, the DA is only slightly heavier than my buddy's 60's era
sw 57.

I have had the 4" 45 ACP Tracker for about 18-20 months and I had the 2" for about a year. I would not hesitate to defend my life with either one. The Tracker in whatever caliber is light enough to carry all day, powerful enough to do most anything a handgun should do, and cheap enough to own more than one. We have the 357 Mag 7-shot in 4", 357 Mag Titanium in 2", and the 44 Mag 5-shot 4" as well.

The only problem I have experienced with any of the Trackers is that some boxes of WWB 45 ACP will lock up the works if the gun is pointed up (careful where it is pointing when you try this) and the hammer cocked. Shaking the gun will usually clear the problem. I suspect this is due to the somewhat thicker rim on the WWB. No other brand I have tried causes this problem, and nor do all lots of WWB.

I would not trade my 4" and I wish I still had the 2" I let go in a trade about a year ago. I think they are an excellent value.
