First off the gun forum has the actual users and owners. If the guns did not work there would be nothing positive to say.
Unless one is an "anointed ones" who see all, knows all, and looks down as everyone else as fools, nitwits, and morons, there is no good reason not go with those who have ACTUAL experience and use with the gun in question.
It's a specific gun and the specific gun owners for the most part are there.
If I choose to look for Rugers firearms I go to THE sources which are gun specific. That's at the two Ruger gun forums that are in my avatar.
The majority of users are at those two gun forums and it is easier to gain their knowledge and experience from them then trying to get it at a general gun forum. This place does have its good points and there are a lot of Ruger owners here. But the vast majority of owners and users who know the products best are at the Ruger gun forums. So that is where I go more than not if it is called for.
Same goes for the SIG P6 I own. I'll ask for things here, but the vast collection of knowledge and operators are at the SIG forum. Specific gun, specific gun forum.
I own a Springfield XD-9. I asked or followed developments here and went to the Springfield gun forum to collect as much data as possible. That is a specific gun and a specific gun forum.
So how does that change things? It's a Taurus gun. So going to a Taurus gun forum just makes good common well thought out sense.
Do searches. Ask questions. Read the actual owners facts, data, and observations. That is what one does at ANY gun specific gun forum.
I go to the Kel-Tec forums and read up on things there when I can. They make good guns. I go to many other gun forums as well that are gun specific and read up on things there. Look at the data and facts and go from there.
That can't be done because it is a Taurus forum? That is disrespectful to the people who own guns and makes ALL the gun specific gun forums IRRELEVANT when following that kind of reasoning to it's final conclusion. Their views, experience, and knowledge are all irrelevant according to that line of reasoning. I can't wait to tell these people at the gun specific gun forums that they are all irrelevant and what they write is of no use.
I will use the reasoning as you have stated above. Why not? It's factual and they don't count.
WOW!
That makes this gun forum irrelevant because the owners facts, data, and experience cannot be counted upon either. Does this follow that only the none users opinions count and they have no actual experience or knowledge about the guns makes them superior to those who do?
Besides what is written here by anybody is anecdotal and cannot be verified.
So this is not about someone who wants to know about the PT709 or the Kel-tec PF-9, both guns that are good in their own right.
This is about the self anointed ones who are superior to anyone not from here and that they deem unworthy.
If the guns at the specific gun forums do not work the people there will say so.
Same goes for here.
The Taurus forum, like many other gun specific forums, are not tied in any way to the company. Or should not be. The Taurus forum is not tied in any way to the company. The owners of Taurus products are just like anyone else here or at any other forum site.
So the links ,data, and knowledge are relevant. Even if you choose not use it though God only knows why one would not use a much needed resource at their disposal. That is unless use of knowledge, data, and experience were not to be used anyway from the start.
If you choose not to use the resource that is up to you. But then this seems to have little to do with actually needing real time data, experience,or facts on that particular model.
I will add this. This gun forum is a good source of info as well.
There are also other places to look for info as well. The links were for source info only and nothing else.
If someone wants to find out about the PT709 then here is as good a source as any there is. Always been that way. It's the people who denigrate a brand based on "conventional wisdom" that is not wise and those who have little or no actual experience with a certain piece.
As for some people's experience with pistols or the PT709, gun break in periods are a normal thing. 200-300 rounds seems to be the norm and documented by the credentialed experts en mass.
It is also customary and needed to try as many brands of ammo in a pistol to see which is relaible, functions best and is also accurate enough to use for defense. Not just one kind of ammo is to be used, but as many as is realistically possible.
It is also a good idea to properly clean and lube a new gun prior to taking it to the range for tests and related things. That includes all the nooks, crannies, firing pin hole, and other places that grime, preservative, or other lubrication can collect.
Here is also a bit about compact or subcompact semi-autos.

It is also apparent that smaller guns are finicky about the ammo they like and the number of rounds they will digest before needing a thorough and proper cleaning. Brand makes no difference.
I've done that with my PT709 and it has functioned flawlessly.
