I give it two thumbs-up!!
I'll speak to your first question...
I've had a PT145 for about 3 years and absolutely love it. My wife has one too, so I can theoretically provide you input on multiple levels. I have shot WWB, Remington JHP, and reloads through it...without any jambs or problems. Actually, I witnessed it jamb on a buddy of mine, whom I let shoot it when it was new. As I suspected, he was limp wristing it, which did not allow for full motion of the slide, thus impacting the feeding of the next round. The result was an FTF.
If I recall, the handgun holds 10 rounds, and does so in a small compact frame. I have read that over time the frame of the Millenium had cracking issues. But, of course the Taurus lifetime warranty covers that. Just a significant inconvenience to ship it and then wait for it to return. However, supposedly, the Millenium Pro does not have the same frame crack problem. So, I purchased the Pro version.
Incidentally, I have found the gun to be very accurate out of the box. I purchased ours new for $269+tax, in Apr 2005.
I have rather large paws, so I fitted an aftermarket rubber slip-on groove-fingered sleeve on the grip, which adds a little to the diameter of the grip and creates a more 'positive' grip, in my opinion.
Recoil on the gun is very managable. Hell, if my wife can shoot it, and loves it; then there's really no reason any adult couldn't, unless there is a physical condition prohibiting it.
Overall, it's a solidly built gun, lightweight, great magazine capacity, attractive (IMHO), and has stood up to the reliability test of many, many rounds. I give it two thumbs-up!!
